Would you happen to know the actual taper angle of the Werks collet?

So, if I install the werks racing pro clutch with the included hardware, could you give me a rough guess on the amount of shims I should expect to use?

Im seeing videos on youtube of people using one or two shims for their setups. Its making me think I have to be doing something wrong with using 1mm(10x .1mm)of shims. Also, with that many shims they act like a spring. So they dont allow the CB to spin completely freely, and there is still some movement in the CB.

Use fewer, thicker shims.

Im waiting on a pack of the .2mm shims. They should be here today.

I got my new shims and things felt better. Went out to try and start breaking in my engine. Instantly ate a starter box wheel lol. Guess the engine heater just wasnt able to get enough heat into it to reduce the pinch.

That's a bummer. Can you put some washers under the wheel mount to raise it up?

New engines have a lot of mechanical pinch. Back the glow plug out a turn or two (so that it is loose) when you initially start the engine on the box. This will reduce compression a bit and making the engine less likely to lock up at TDC. Once the engine starts and is running just remove the glow igniter and tighten the glow plug.

Got my engine started today finally!

Got a replacement starter box wheel. Box is an ultimate racing box, and the wheel in it was bubble gum soft. Luckily the protek surestart box wheel is the same, but a harder compound.

2nd attempt to start the engine was a fail again. I pre heated the engine and then tried to prime it. I was unable to get it to prime, and eventually enough fuel got in the engine that it locked up again. So I let the buggy sit and I stepped away for a little. Came back in about 30min, and I saw the fuel line was full. I think i over heated the engine the first time causing the fuel to boil, because this time I had no issues priming. Just struggled with the compression again. But eventually got the engine started and ran a whole tank. Only had time for one tank this evening, but some progress was refreshing!

Werks, Any ETA on when glow plugs will be available? They are out of stock everywhere I have seen. Will OS plugs or any other brand work?

I have ordered some of the #5 plugs through Ashford Hobby. They're new old stock, and show some small signs of rust, but they work just fine and they're in stock.

the B3pro2 came with a os p3 plug. Werks said it would be easier to break in engine then with Werks 5 plug. So get yourself some os p3 plugs. Check b3pro2 page for that info if you wanna read it yourself.

Yeah, the protek wheel is way better! It did some slipping on the flywheel, but other than the rubber dust in the box, you cant tell by just looking at the wheel. The ultimate one was gone as soon as it slipped. Protek wheels are cheaper as well.

Ive got 4 tanks through the B6 now. Its still a pain to start until you get a lot of heat into the engine.

Ive got another random question. My glow igniter will not clip onto the glow plug when installed in the engine. Is this normal on a engine with a turbo plug? I have a novarossi roma .25 that has a turbo plug as well. I remember it being a little difficult to get the igniter to clip on the first time, but after that I didn't have any issues.

So I tried running the B6 in my first ever nitro qual. Broke my buggy on the first round of qual, had no issues the 2nd round, and on the 3rd round couldn't get the engine to start. After all the frustrations I decided I was going to convert the buggy to electric. After removing the engine, I noticed a gouge on the piston through the exhaust port. I removed the piston and sleeve to see if I could figure out what happens. Turns out the clip that holds the piston on the wrist pin came out and the engine ate it. Has anyone else experienced this?

I never ran this motor on my own. Only at the track with experienced nitro guys. Other than having issues getting the engine started the first few times, it ran fine for break in and up to the point it failed. It had less than a gallon through it.

Is Werks out of business or what?
