Borrowing one of these from a mate. Might buy it off him.

Anywhere to buy the grips. He only has the small, and it's deformed and is a little uncomfortable. Can't find them in stock anywhere, I guess because it's so old.

Is there a good tape to wrap round it perhaps? Or another smart alternative.

it seems like it's on the old firmware, although I guess the latest is still old lol.

Currently running an mt-s, but wouldnt mind this as a back up and one I could use whilst my lad has a go of my other car with the MTS.

Hey all. I've been playing around with my very second hand m12 and now heard of the range issues, which I don't think I'm suffering from but thought I'd ask.

Setting up the car and walking away from it about 50meters, I can see the wheels turn fast still (white wheels are easy to see and come into view quickly). At a round 60meters it clearly slows down a little and glitches (there was a car in the way a little).

I've never tried this before, but I got my other sanwa transmitter (mt-s) and tried the same. They are roughly similar behavior on distance. So I don't think there is a problem, unless my mt-s is also poor performing.

I've not had a problem at one of the tracks I go to (max distance from rostrum is 35m) , so largely I don't care, it was more out of interest. When people had the range issue, what range were people getting?

This is with an antenna less receiver also, all in the box of my 8th scale buggy. With car and myself at ground level, unlike a track where I'm up on the rostrum. I can only image with an aerial and being raised would help alot.

Try using a receiver with an antenna. It will definitely give you greater range.

Yeah thinking I might pick one up. I guess my question was more "am I suffering range issues?" as a number of m12's have apparently...but I'mnot sure what a range issue is? Is it 10m ? 20? 30m?

I've never had range issues or tested the limits. Ii just know that an antenna will add more compared to one without.

The receiver without the wire antenna seem to froze after reaching about 30m or more.. I didn't have that issue using the receiver with wired antenna. I'm using the M12S Tx.

Thanks both. I think that gives me comfort that my m12 unit doesn't suffer from any range issues and I'm getting at least what is expected in reality.

I disagree, an antenna-less receiver with the M12S should still get range about as far as you could see your car. If you're only getting 30m range then you are definitely having range issues with either the radio or that particular receiver.

I know that wasn't a reply to me, but today I've done further testing with my m12 and mt-s.

Irrespective of receiver rx-482 or Rx-481 WP or an SMD one I get about 60 metres on a road in a residential UK town. I need to be sure I'm looking at the car with the transmitter pointing towards it, if i turn my back to the car we're done.

I suspect a lot depends on the location of the receiver to some extent.
mushroomed likes this.

Hello Friends:

Anyone know how to access the latest M12 firmware? As mentioned above, I have a brand-new never-used (or powered-ON) unit, I would like to update firmware to assure optimum function.

Funny, when I click on the "M12 PC Software" link on the first post of this thread it sends me to "https://www.airtronics.net/", where I get sexual/porno invitations? Go see for yourself :>

By the way, my M12 firmware version is: 1.19101 (straight from the factory)

I guess that's because Airtronics went out of business years ago.

For the M12S some newer version can be found here. Don't know if it will work on a normal M12 though....

thank you! (yeah, I've been aware Airtronics/Hobby People went out of business).

Looks like I will probably just sell my M12, and keep my M12S. Will probably buy an M17. As I have quite a collection of Airtronics servo's and receivers.

I also own a brand new Airtronics Aquila-6 radio (which Sanwa apparently still produces), but can't seem to find firmware info on this model?
