Default Problem with ESC remembering settings

Hi all

Strange one; G Force TS160 ESC, worked fine until this summer in my Xray XB4, but now playing up.

First of all it 'forgot' its settings. TX/RX still had good bind, but ESC beeping as if it hadn't been set up. Ran through set up, worked fine...then used it again recently (mostly run 2WD so it often sits for a while between runs) and it had forgotten again.

Did set up, switched off, it's forgotten again. Then randomly it had reverse...it NEVER has reverse switched on, I only ever run forward and brake. Plugged in program card and it says it set to forward/brake only. Weird.

Do they have an internal battery to remember settings or something? I've got an ancient R10 in my 2WD which never missed a beat, so I can't imagine they do?

Any thoughts? I've lost faith in it. Bin it, or a fixable issue? Thanks in advance

Sounds like bad eeprom/flash memory that's either becoming corrupted or just not being properly written. Had the same problem with a Futaba radio that every once in a while it would loose all the memory models and settings when you turned it on.

Every time you let it sit then turn it on, it's reverting to factory default settings.

There's small chip that's surfaced mounted to the board of the ESC. Not an easy repair.
