Default Hobbywing ESC

Hi guys/girls

new to hobby and know very little so I apologize in advance.

bought a used Associated B6.1 with a hobbywing v3.1 esc and a17.5 timed motor (forgot name of motor) I’m using the car on indoor carpet track

car was SUPER fast!!! I then updated speed controller and now it’s slow almost in a training mode???? I hooked up program box and so many options and not sure what setting mean?

anybody have experience w/hobbywing?
thoughts on quality?

i had tried to contact tech support and in my opinion they were terrible!!! Where no help at all and no phone support.

TY

Curious - how did you "update" the ESC? This is not something that is normally done. Did you calibrate the speed control after your "update"? Do you have the manual?

Hi

i used the wifi module, plugged it into speed control. When I tried to communicate w/speed control it said I had to update it. So I hit yes and it updated and then I was able to program it through my phone/app.

Default Wifi module

Hi

i used a Hobby wing wifi module, I couldn’t communicate w/ESC unless I updated it.

I have not calibrated, I can’t find the instructions on how to do that.

I have 2 other Hobbywing ESC in 2 other cars (just stock) and I did calibrate and still pretty slow?

thanks

Can anybody recommend a good speed controller that offers good tech support? Rather pay more money for a good speed controller w/tech support that I can actually call.

thanks

Manuals are on the Hobbywing web site - scroll down to the middle of the page.

Default ESC

Ok here is what I came up with and seemed to work, I have 3 cars I’m working 1

car #1 which is the 1 started thread about has a HW Xerun stock 3.1, I connected to wifi module and under profile it has 10 icons, I had it on 1st icon which is modify, I found somewhere the 10 different settings which equals the icons. Why they don’t say modify, 13.5, 17.5 etc rather than a picture of a car I have no idea!!! Anyway I set it to the 7th car which is 17.5 stock and viola car is FAST

so car #2 & 3 have a XR10 just stock which I think is an entry level. Much less options to play with. Problem I’m having with these ESC is that when I give full throttle you can see the tire ballon for a second and the slow down. So it appears the motor wants to go fast but the ESC slows it back down???

any thoughts
thanks

My thoughts
* Make sure your batteries are fully charged
* Read and follow the instructions before you call tech support

I could go on, but it would not be polite.....

if you truly get frustrated enough and tired of the horrible customer service like I did check out Pro Performance Rc inc on Facebook. Their XSC150P esc is faster on the clock than my Xr10pro G2 was and customer service and support is nothing short of incredible imo

Hello:
Does anybody know where the ROAR legal software version XR 4.2.05 can be downloaded?
It's not showing up with the Hobbywing USB link. Do we need to use the OTA or Wifi modules to access it?
Thanks in advance

USB link should be able to access it. Make sure you use the check DB for updates menu option.

Check to see that's it's not in "Training Mode".

This was posted in the normal Hobbywing ESC thread:

"Hobbywing updated their database. If you launch USBLink and select HELP, then select Database Update, the new firmware will show up.

Worked for me, good luck. After you install 4.2.05 firmware and set softening and boost/turbo all to zero, then it will go into a special blinky mode where it blinks for 3 seconds, then pauses 1 second, then repeats.

EDIT: By the way, the special firmware with the new blinking mode is only for the 2S ESC's. The 1S still uses 4.2.01 firmware with a normal blinking mode."
