If you are already balanced L/R then under steering rack is good spot. Keeps close to center and is upfront

Hi TB EVO7 owners, I have just ordered one of these after a 30 year RC holiday.

I am wondering if anybody has tried all three motor positions and which configuration you prefer? I am tempted to go with the shorty set up because it works better with my OCD's. LOL

I have only run A (front Motor) setup so far. On black carpet it works good. I am planning on trying B (rear Motor) but no plans for C (shorty) for me.

Just building my car after reading through this thread. Quick question. Does the kit contain extra shims? Building as per spec I probably have close to 3/4 of a mm play in the front gearbox input shaft.

I had to buy shims to take out most of the play.

You might end up with a few extras but what I recommend is to get some 0.05mm thick 5mm shims to fine tune the gear mesh, such as those from Yokomo ZC-S50S, as sometimes +/- 0.1mm difference means being too tight or too much play.

Hi all, built my car now ready for use when I return to the UK this summer if I survive the apocalypse.
Has anybody got any tips for 17.5 blinky indoors on carpet. The track is fairly small and tight.

I have the car built exactly as kit with the exception of some correct shimming.

I will be running 64p gearing. I have a 100 tooth in at the moment but think this is going to necessitate the use of a massive pinion to get a reasonable FDR.

Any thoughts, advice or info appreciated.

is evo 7 anywhere in stock online nowadays?

We run aroubd 4.5 FDR for 17.5 blinky on an in ndoor sport hall carpet track at my club.

If you really want to get your car dialed in. Get xray springs and sway bars and ditch the Tamiya stuff. Gear your car for the infield. Don’t worry about the short straight. Learn proper tire prep. You may end up wanting to use tire warmers to get the tires ready for the first lap. All Tamiya short springs are too soft for carpet racing
