Arrma Kraton 4s vs 6s?
#1
I’m ready to purchase a MT 1/10 or 1/8 scale. I hear conflicting reviews regarding the 4s version being better then the 6s version. Would like some further input before I hit the purchase button. Lol. I appreciate your time.

I own both the 6s and 4s Kraton and Outcast.
The 4s cars have been very durable but then again, I don't push it as hard as the 6s rig. Obviously, the old saying of "you get what you pay for" holds true here. I have all the 6s Arrma's, less the Typhon (I have the 3s version), and I must say they are my GO TO bashers for reliable running. The 4s cars are quick, nimble and thrashable, but I also remember they come with plastic driveshafts and a weaker chassis. 4s is really the limit of that design with that drivetrain, despite it's upgrades over the 3s stuff.
In the end, If I was spending $400 on an RC, I'd save a little longer and spend the extra $150 bucks on a 6s to "futureproof" myself. Besides crawlers...who really wants to upgrade to a slower RC, right?

What if you have no interest in 6S, and want to stay with 4S? I just watch Kevin Talbot's video, in which he said (not saying it's gospel, but I noticed it..) that the 4S is better out of the box, but the 6S needs lots of upgrades. That to me would be a massive turn-off re the 6S. I'm not going down that rabbit hole again, ever.
I used to spend tons on RC cars, so I kind of hate the idea of having to upgrade stuff(one or two cheap, simple things, maybe. More than that, no.), and I don't want to buy 6S lipos either. I have plenty of 4S. I don't plan on jumping over houses etc either... Just messing around having fun, the occasional jumps and flips etc.., but honestly my hardcore bashing days are over..
What puts me off a bit on the 4S is German pricing. The 4S is like still pushing €450 or something, so only €100 less than the 6S version. Seems like in the scheme of things the 4S is overpriced in comparison...

The 4s version needs new shocks, and maybe driveshafts. Some people can manage the slipper to keep from popping u-joints every run, but even then, they wear out after 20-30 runs and need to be replaced. I just swapped in the Arrma CVD's into my Granite (uses same joints as the 4s trucks) but don't have enough runs on them to make a ruling...
