I was just told tonight that it is not really a slash some slash part fit but it is a much different handling truck and as long as I can build it right will hold up well for our club racing

I got rid of my proline transmissions but responding to your earlier post, if you're trying to fit a sealed diff on a slash platform (or any traxxas 2wd), the latest Fastlane Machine Super Diff is just about perfect (at least, for my needs).
It is extremely strong, but it uses large bearings around the outdrives, and it uses regular traxxas 4wd diff parts for the inside (i.e. the bevel and spider).
Note that it only uses 2 spider gears (vs 4 in the proline diff) but the build quality is excellent. The diff case is very heavy relative to normal diff cases.
I tried the proline diff for quite some time and either the case or the diff would always fail.

The FLM looks nice, but looking to not have it be so heavy.

Did some searching and found this discussion
i am returning to the hobby after a 6+ year hiatus and a new track opening near me is running a Box Stock Slash class (Titan 550 not Velineon those are going in the 2wd short course class) and any insight would be greatly appreciated by this old dog

Hey guy so what’s a better motor choice size wise for the slash hobbywing 3652 or 3660 (540 or 550 size) not to sure on the kv yet but mostly for bashing on 2s any input would be helpful.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but has anyone installed a 550 motor in their Slash 2WD? I’m looking for a kV recommendation on a Tekin Pro 4 or equivalent. I will be running it primarily on 3S on mixed surfaces.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I might have a 3500Kv Pro4HD available if you'd like to try that.

Thanks for the offer! That would be my concern, would be too much power for the stock tranny.
I've not used a Tekin Pro4 but I have used a Tenshock 550 size 3400KV on 2S and 3s and also 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5 Novak 550 motors, but only on 2S. This is in 2WD slashes. The 4.5 is used with a Proline trans and I find it hard to keep the slipper tight enough. The Tenshock is used with a Robinson HD slipper with steel spur and I've stripped the spider gears inside the diff the one time I tried to run it on the street with 3S. 7.5 turn Novak or Tekin 550 2 pole motors would probably work well on 3S.

i just pre-ordered the soon to be released Hobbywing 4000kV 4-pole brushless motor for my 2WD Slash project. It is a 550-sized motor with a 5mm shaft.
EZRUN 3660SL G2 4000kV
I'll let you know how it goes when I get it mounted!

Follow-up on my previous post above.
Finally was able to install the Hobbywing EZRUN 3660SL G2 4000kV motor into my 2WD “Monster” Slash. This is a 550 sized motor with a 5mm output shaft. Overall, I am happy with the performance and the install was not bad.
Performance wise, it is a huge upgrade over the stock Traxxas Velineon 3500kV brushless motor. It runs much cooler and has a more useable power band, when geared correctly. I swap between the 2.8” Stampede tires and the stock SC tires. With a change of the pinion gear, it has plenty of power: torque and top-speed. Temp maxes out around 115 degrees on the Traxxas telemetry.
Installation of the motor was straightforward, but the bullet connectors were a different size from the Traxxas VXL-3S speed control. I swapped the female bullet connectors on the esc and color coded the shrink tubing. It is connected to a Gens Ace 3S LiPo battery.
Transmission-wise, I am running the Hot Racing sealed aluminum gear diff housing and the STRC top shaft that allows the installation of the Team Associated 2-pad slipper components. The nice thing is I am able to run a 32-pitch spur gear from the RC10GT2 and a 32-pitch mod .8 Protek pinion with the 5mm bore. The Associated slipper is fantastic in protecting the internals of the tranny, especially in high traction conditions (like street). I like the durability of the larger 32-pitch gearing.
Anyways, the Hobbywing motor has been a great upgrade for around $70.
