Yeah. Miniature painting technique. Quick way to get some highlighting on the "edges" of grille. Kinda just simulates light reflecting instead of actually painting it a different color.

Oh, you mean getting paint on the brush, then dabbing off most of it on a paper towel before brushing a tiny bit of paint onto the thing you're painting. That might work, or if the edges on the grille are sharp enough you could use the paint's surface tension to draw wet beads of paint and then leave it alone to dry, to get a thicker and more opaque coating of paint.

My Ascender got a new body, a new paint job, and new taillights integrated into the body instead of the bumper.

It sure is a good thing I never need to sleep. This hobby would be a lot harder otherwise.

Looks awesome! I’m considering picking one of these or theSCX10 2 up. It won’t be fore quite some time as I’m in the middle of another project but these crawlers are really piquing my interest.

They're great to have around when you want to do some meditative RCing. No worries about crashing into curbs or saucing the tires before driving, and a full-size 2S LiPo will last an hour or longer.

Nice color scheme!
They stopped selling the Ascender K5 Blazer. I still see a couple on Ebay but for the most part they're gone.

The clear K5 body has been discontinued, for some stupid reason.

If you go further and click on Buy now it will read "This item is no longer available"

I assume an expiring licensing agreement is the reason for discontinuing.

Possibly, but it's not hard to renew contracts like that. They probably haven't bothered because the current fad is scalers with exposed rollcages in the rear. I don't particularly like that look.
