Jeez, even a limit of “just” $150 for a motor is IMO pretty ridiculous. I long for the days when the modest entry fee for most major races was somewhere between $40-$60 and that fee even included a handout motor, albeit a brushed one. Extra motors could be had for just $20-$25. Lately the price of keeping up with competitive brushless horsepower is really getting out of hand and increasingly more difficult to justify.
talking to veteran racers, appears ROAR had a opportunity, but never acted to put a leash on spec motors in the transition years to brushless, and lost control of a time when stock motors were cheaper than open brushed motors, but there was a quality difference like bearings etc. i can see why a spec brushless motor is the same price as a open motor these days, but spec motors being allowed to go to $150, exceed cost of open motors, and then not being able to prove it's over the limit? something really wrong there. i see alot of motors pimped to 149.99, some still at 174.99, not sure if a coupon discount would make them legal? plus hobbyshops may not be able to match a 149.99 price? some motors i think you can exceed the 149.99 price with all the options if done direct from company. i hear racers talking of 1-2% motors that are not officially advertised that blow those away in price...RC urban legend?
curious what is the case for those who bought the $150+ motors before the 1 Oct ruling?

Approved motors will be still approved.
That is my understanding on this matter.
Does anyone know the answer to this... I tried asking in the Trinity/Revtech thread and the question seemingly flipped the light switch off over there...
With ROAR's new $150.00 pricing rules in effect as of yesterday and Trinity's certified motors still selling for $164.95 and above on Trinity's site and retailer's sites, does that mean the Trinity certified motors will be pulled from the approval list? I would like to try out a new Monster Max, but I won't spend a dime on one if I can't run it.

Do you use motors in your 1/12th scales in Canada? Did you read the post where I stated I couldn't get an answer in another thread? I need a new motor (for my 1/12th scale) and don't want to buy one that is no longer going to be on the approved list due to the new ROAR rules. The answer to my questions applies to many different classes including 1/12th scale. Should we avoid discussing things like tire compounds, tire sauce and spring rates in this thread since those discussions could apply to other classes besides 1/12th scale specifically?

Think I will just go TSR 2.0. both the standard and The One variants are clearly approved.
Should we do a more detailed guide in the wiki to each brand of tires? I could probably do the Ulti's or CRC's as those are my main tires but someone with experience with JFT and others should probably have some input.
not sure if it matters racing wise ULTI also shows a G-compound not on the wiki, in three compunds. this is on their site https://ultitires.com/index.php?rout...12/maxPrice=35
-Evolution of the X compound.
-G foam is often suitable mainly for carpet and the condition of an especially high grip.

No, we just roll the expensive chassis' down a steep incline
Sorry, my mistake, I thought that post was just a whiny attempt at sympathy for a perceived dilemma.
Of course not! That wouldn't make sense at all. Now, given that I perceive you are an intelligent fellow that demands last words, I thank you for your continued valuable contribution to this forum.
