Default How to check a motor?

Is there a simple way to check a motor with a voltage meter? I just received a motor that seems to chatter while on throttle . It doesnt seem like others i have had in the past, 8.5t. This one is a 7.5t and dont know if its may have stronger magnets that is causeIng the chatter. Temps get pretty hot quick.

"Chatter" + heat usually equals some sort of cogging.
