I just finished running my first summer of USGT using the Trackstar 21.5. Learned that it's the older model motor. Wasn't bad but did seem to lack power compared to other brands. Even when cars were geared identical.

FDR means nothing if your using different motors.

265.00 reg and avail for 149.00 right now for 170 RF esc with 21.5 motor and program box , 2 year warranty etc.

For the money you really can't go wrong.

Yet over the years I've read suggestion for FDR in countless posts with no question of motor being asked.

It's been an interesting first summer of racing USGT. I've messed with more gearing combinations since June then in the past 6 years.

FDR is a good starting point for motor gearing ,

I get that. But what is usually not mentioned is there are multiple ways to achieve the same FDR. I just looked at a gearing chart I've been using. Found 6 different combinations in 64p to get a FDR in the 3.7 range. As I've been leaning this year each motor has different power range. Despite all being rated 21.5.

I've got lot to learn about sensored systems. Only really been running them for just over a year now.

With My cars I find using spur gears of 92 and 96 good for our Sidwinderz, Windy City , StCharles and Lake in the Hills tracks

Thank you it hasn't hot the ground yet still trying to decide on a power plant and considering SMC this time around, attempting to build a competitive car with cost below 600.00 ,minus transponder and battery of course, and it's between a HW combo
The cheap Reedy set and SMC.
I'll let you know the handling traits as soon as it makes some laps.

Any word from ProtoForm on the 190mm Ford GT body? I can't wait to run it. I painted this one for a fellow racer, its the 200mm version. I know Traxxas has one but I think it only fits their new 4-Tec chassis.

if 1 motor has more rpm than the other, fixed fdr means the higher rpm motor will always be faster.

we did a fixed fdr at our club for a while. It worked for a while to even things out a bit but gradually guys started buying faster motors and those who doidn't were left in the dust.

Adjustable gearing plays to help those with slower motors.
