U.S. Vintage Trans-Am Racing Part 2
We had a great race outdoors at the Hobbytown North location in Indianapolis last Sunday. The Hoosier RC Racers club put on the event and members got the track set up and taken down. We had a good turnout too. VTA, USGT, Outlaw, and Stock Slash.

Great group of guys in that area who are really all "about the hobby".
There is no motor "to get". That is the point of the new motor rules. They are are all so close in performance it doesn't matter. And it won't matter when new ones are released. They will be similar in performance. We have a local racer that regularly podiums with a Novak.
Focus on consistancy over what is the best motor. That will get you a lot closer to the podium than replacing a motor every 6 months.

As has been said, the playing field is very equal in 25.5
The new Protoform VTA tires seem to have been made for Black Carpet racing .
The pavement VTA racers , need a tire too . Is there a way to make these tires work on pavement? Will whatever corp that bought HPI make the old compound again or will protoform come out with a Pavement compound .
Will there only be one compound be allowed in VTA?

This seems to be the consensus so far. I am still running the old HPI tires, but earlier in this thread some people said the Protoform tires work on pavement after soaking them in Liquid Wrench for a couple of days. To me this seems unacceptable, but of course I will do it as soon as I run out of the HPI tires that I have.
If you soaked the tires in liquid wrench like that I am sure they will be so soft they will wear even more quickly then the HPI tires do outside.
A set of VTA Tires and wheels is almost $50 . Almost Twice the Cost of USGT tires. I can get about 4 race days out of the GTs
We will see what happens before next outdoor season. Outdoor VTA might not be a part of it for Me
Here is a solution for outdoor VTA if you think the new protoform tires are at a disadvantage to the hpi's, make everyone run the new tires outdoor, now everyone is on equal terms. Rather than bash a company that has gone out of their way to help VTA work with what is available and adjust to bring everyone on a equal level.
