I'm putting some proline paddles on mine for the beach.

I love mine and think it handles great. The suspension settings were way out of wack out of the box though, had to fix droop and ride height.
With squishy suspension and no sway bars with the big tires this thing is great fun. I love the handing, but for racing a regular track you'd be smart to install sway bars and regular 1/8 buggy tires imo, short course tires would work alright.
I don't think body is that heavy compared to sc8.
I haven't run mine stock, as soon as it arrived I put a decent servo, castle mmx esc, tekin t8 1550 truggy motor and 24t pinion.

By the way, about the stock electronics. From looking at the manual's parts list, it seems the ESC is a SC1000-BL? And the manual lists two servos, one is high-speed, one high-torque - which one is included by default? Both would seem to be high-voltage capable, but I guess the ESC only has a 6V BEC, at least nothing on the product page or manual suggests otherwise.

It doesn't come with any optional sway bars stock. With sway bars installed you will lose capability of dealing with extreme terrain.
Compared to 1/8 buggy it will be more stable because of the longer chassis. With shorter chassis, buggies can be twitchier, which is nice.
the tires are also much different and not nearly as race orientated as 1/8 buggy. Without wing it has less downforce and rear stability.
The body and cage is significantly heavier than tiny 1/8 buggy body, and raises your center of gravity.
Here are optional sway bars.

Here is the stock servo.

One thing to keep in mind is the whole solid axle thing
