Prototypes are sometimes sillouhettes of real cars but underneath they share nothing with real cars. Kind of like NASCAR, says Monte Carlo on it, can I race a NASCAR body in USGT? Of course not. Semantics.
As for where and when the one I posted the pic of? I can't find it right this second but it was one of the Euro GT series with McLaren's , Ferrari, Audi R8, GTR and so on. FYI the Pagani wasn't that great, Audi and GTR were king.

These are photos of the Pagani Zonda racing. I'd guess that the poster-- NutDriver-- took some of the photos himself!

for those having trouble with what real GT cars are like, this might help.

I guess my point is USGT does not replicate any ONE real racing series (VTA does Giggity! ) .
so the approved body list is pointless to an extent.

Well, because of the recent argument I know what the plural of Prius is - Prii!! So at least there's that. Oh yeah, to those that continue to argue, the "powers that be" have decided that this is a dead issue so we need to shut up. I mean, who are we to wonder why that P Zero is legal but the Cadillac DP isnt even though they look similarly aerodynamic?? I cant wait to run my F103GT with the Courage body. I mean, it says "GT" right on the box so it must be legal right?

One more thing: Every weekend, somewhere, I guarantee there are bodies being run that are not on the list. The list is there because , apparently, no one can just have fun and run some cool looking non touring car bodies. Ones that look like real race cars or supercars in general.
SO after all kinds of crying and wailing, and body related foolishness, the list was created.
Of course, this just caused even more crying and wailing.
But guess what? If the race director doesn't throw you off the track, you probably can run the body you want. I'm not coming to your track to stop you. At a big event, yeah, you probably can't run it. But then I have also seen guys try to run bodies with the back cut out like it's an oval car at big races, claiming there's no cut line.........
*sigh*
You can't please everybody. I stopped trying a long time ago. I never wanted to do a body list. We're not going back now, though.

If we want the bodies to be cut at the molded line, then we should include that in the rules. Currently there is no mention of this in the USGT rules. (In contrast, it is there in the USVTA rules.)

As it was taught in one of Ęsop's fables, "Please all, and you will please none."
