From the email I got from Danny they he feels are competitive with them I'd be curious if this is the case was thinking of getting a couple

OK to compare:

My Fantom FR-1 Type T original release Works Edition 17.5T from last February tested today:

average timing is at 51 deg, it is 50, 51, 51 on each phase

kV = 3090
V = 8.1V
RPM = 25,043
I = 6.3 Amps

The SMC 17.5T as it arrived was 18 average timing and ran nothing special on the Analyzer. Then I cranked it up bit by bit and came up with this although the amps are quite high:

average timing is at 51 deg, it is 52, 52, 50 on each phase

kV = 3249
V = 8.0V
RPM = 25,800
I = 8.4 Amps

@190mph, did you try running the SMC at 6 or 6.3Amps and what was the resulting RPM?

I will do that tonight. I did not have a chance to go racing tonight, was fireplace shopping and Best Buy getting an iPad Pro and those took longer than expected.

Ok I backed it off a bit to get closer to my amp draw on the Fantom. I don't know if I can easily find say 48 degrees and what it will do.

average timing is at 49 deg, it is 50, 50, 48 on each phase

kV = 3003
V = 8.0V
RPM = 23,945
I = 6.5 Amps

This 17.5 motor runs better than it tested on the Analyzer. Very Quick car and I cannot hold on with Sorex 32 tires on the carpet. Ran 96/50 gearing in my BD7 2016 for a FDR of 3.7 and the motor was fast in Q1 but came up pretty hot and the smell of a hot run. Was not over 175F I do not believe. Temp Gun was showing 140+, but by the time you get to your pit space right after the run it was probably 20 to 25F higher.

Changed gearing down to 96/49 for a FDR of 3.92 and the motor was very quick out of the corners with still great speed. Jumped up 2 laps as grip came up also and turned the laps of the 2 or 3 fastest guy and qualified 6th on the A Main. So feeling good. Considering I am running 32's and 28's everyone probably running and I got some roll where the body is scraping the carpet and probably responsible for some unsettled car.

I am running a New Pack of SMC True Spec Extreme 6000mAh too today. But ran my Fantom FR-1 Type T 17.5 from last year on first practice run today and this motor could very well be outperforming that.

I just picked up one of these motors. Has anyone tried the 12.3 tuning rotor?

190mph, any more news on the performance of the motor?

Also, anyone using the 13.5 version in 1/10 4wd buggy?

I'm about to order one with an XR8 SCT to go into an MBX7r... will report back, but probably won't have it on the track for at least a week or two.

MBX7R....Then your talking the 4 pole 8th scale motors, not to smaller mod motors. I have ran both the 1900kv and the 2100kv motors, they both perform well. You don't have a worry.

Oops, sorry - I skimmed Cain's post too quickly and didn't realize he was referring to 1/10th scale.
