Default Setting Timing - 6 amps

Got a skyrc motor analyzer. Noticed all my fantom 17.5 motors are at about 48 degrees timing. They are only pulling about 3 amps. To get to 6 amps I've got to be at about 56 degrees timing. Seems very high. Is the 6 amp timing setting a good guideline or just something perpetuated on the net? What's everyone else's experience/results of amp draw at the timing that works well for your motors?

There is no one magic free-running current draw. Everyone has their own favorite number.

All of my latest TSR motors came with timing set at the recommended point by the manufacturer. The resulting free-running current draw was about 2 to 2.5A.

I've found similar things to Howard. Around 3 amps seems to be the sweet spot for a couple different 17.5 motors I have. This is for 1s 1/12th scale on a very small track. We typically run rollouts in the 75mm range.
