I don't have this truck, but I have built the SCT410.3. Tekno quality is top notch. Even though everything fits well with Tekno kits, I don't know if I would recommend it for a first time builder. If you do try to build it, just take your time.

The manual is actually pretty clear, and there are forums like this, and FB groups that will help answer any questions.
The best part of building you own kit, is that you know how to fix and adjust things yourself.

I guess what I'm driving at is this major point: They are both equally as tough. They are not equally refined. If there was an open MT class in organized RC racing, the box stock MT410 wouldn't have an equal against other box stock MT's. PERIOD.
Buy either of them based on what you can afford. (Buy both if you can afford both, haha!)
As far as putting the kit together...I'm a noob at putting together an RC Car kit. I do have experience putting RC aircraft kits together however. I found this kit to be very simple. One parts bag...one page in the manual and so on. That's easy stuff.

That's such a tough call. If you want your spend to be $500 bucks or less, the Outcast is the clear winner. In terms of refinement and the joy of bashing, the MT410 has no equal in my book. That, however, comes with a steep price tag. I have close to $1000 in mine less the Lipo's.

I forgot to mention, I do have a motor and electronics. Steering servo also, which is over 400 oz. Needs a bec from castle to get that, but that I can do.
The brushless system I have is 2200kv. That should be good to start with I think.
I also have a set of trenchers on f11 rims, o offset. Controller and receiver to. From reading this thread, I think all I'm missing is a pinion gear.
So what do think, am i missing anything?
I thought all I need is the kit?
I guess what am asking is, can a noob build this kit with a 2200 kv motor?
Oh yeah, I'm a diesel mechanic by trade, for a long time now. Not much keyboard experience here. Lol.

hi yok. i was one of the earlier guys on the xxl2e. i am going to use the red 1515b out of my xxl2e for the motor. for the esc i plan to use a mm2 as it has adjustable voltage on the bec. the sidewinder 8 is in my erevo where it is a better fit. just guessing that is the one that you are planning on using. might want to use an external bec. i have been all over beating truggies and buggies lately and those 2200 motors are really good for bashing.
per putting it together, you will be totally fine the manual is very good. not quite as good as an xray manual but better than the 8ight/8ight - t. if you have any questions the electric off road sections have a bunch of very helpful and exceedingly knowledgable people and it tends to be better populated. i am very thankful for the help i have gotten here but sometimes have to be a little patient as it seems like there are only like 2 dozen consistent posters in this forum whereas the electric offroad seems like around 100.
having blown a bunch of money on erevos/axials i am sold on the race pedigree for bashers.

The body on the outcast is really nice, I like that old ford. But can't buy it cause of that.
Guess its time to find the best deal.
Thanks all.

That means you can read and follow direction and have more than average mechanical ability.
Don't fear building the kit, you will find it rewarding and a lot of fun.
Take your time...no worries.

I would look at the newer Futaba 3PV, over the 3PRKA. I'm guessing it has more features. JMO.

What batteries will you be running 4s, 6s, or both? The kv you listed maybe best suited for 4s. Tekin requires soldering, & does not auto switch for the cell # you are using. You must manually change the cell #. The RX8's default setting is 2s. I like the feel of the RX8. If going CC, I'd go MMX, & look at their sensored motors. Sensored is very smooth(Tekin is sensored).

What motor/esc would you recommend? As for the radio, only want the basic.
I'm going to be at $1200 complete. This includes all new parts listed, new custom painted body, and new SMC 4S LiPo.
