Feeling a bit overwhelmed...

Hey Guys -
Just got back into rc racing after a few years of gym racing with a good group of friends. My new place has a really awesome on road with black crc and a turf off road track - clearly the next level than I had before. The fast racers are all run really expensive electronics, pretty much the most expensive you can buy there. My stuff isn't cheapest or junk but it is running about half the price.. some examples:
Them:me
Hobbywing xerun (120, some have some 180 one) : tekin rs spec
Charge at 40-70 amps : 5amps
Phantom v2 motors : phantom v1
Most expensive battery $110+ : same battery but $40
For chassis I have the same as theirs, xray x1 (f1) and xb2 (2wd buggy) but they are about a second faster than me per lap. I had one of the pros drive my car and he was around the same time. Do you feel the above higher priced electronics can get you that much faster? Thanks!
For reference i am on a 13.5 second lap and they run a 12.5 second lap. I had one drive my car a few laps and he was able to produce 13.2 second laps... So there is some skill there; but can electronics really make up another second of lap time?

Is that an average lap time or fastest? That's the thing with stock racing (17.5), you can spend a lot for the smallest margins...Their charging/battery regime will affect the punch they can get for a start-but then you're also looking at a high dollar charger..
I don't race stock for these reasons-it's not really stock is it?

Everything matters. Not just the equipment, but the setup on the car may be better on theirs than yours.
Anyway, don't worry, go out there and have fun. The fast guys are a second/lap faster than me, but it's OK, I still have as much fun as them.
