You can't beat HobbyWing or Tekin. What's your budget?

Kinda looking for a esc motor combo now was told that there are better options for a motor for a car like that to go like 2200 or 2650 kv I'll loose a bit of torque but gain top speed am I thinking right there?

You can get great combos from both HobbyWing and Tekin.

Correct, higher kV means more speed, but less torque as a general rule.

I would agree Hobbywing XR8 or Tekin RX8 with 1900kv on 4s for 1/8e buggy. My preference is always Hobbywing over Tekin any day of the week. I have both but prefer the HW. I've had a couple Tekin RX8 G2's fail over the last couple years however I've never had a HW esc or motor fail in 1/8 or 1/10.

You can go with a higher kv motor but you'll get the best results with the 1900kv which you can gear a bit harder than a higher kv motor as well.
