I jut bought a set of these - https://www.amainhobbies.com/schumac...xg-572/p469330

Are they no good, or is there something I need to do before running them?

They don't tape or glue the insert which has caused insert failure or hi-spotting in the tire rendering it useless.

was able to run mine this past weekend. Man what a fun class!
it came in friday afternoon so I really did not have a bunch of time to go through everything like I wanted. I had a few sets of tires to choose from that came with the car and decided to run some p-ones. They had plenty of rear grip but lacked a little steering. Come to find out the front end was just about mound up so I think my steering issue will be fine for the next go around.

I went through the whole car yesterday, replaced all the bearings and diff ball, ordered a new body to paint and some tires that the "fast guy" recommended since he has been running the class for a while. Looking forward to getting it back on the track again and getting it dialed in.

I picked up the option front X1 wing. It takes different mounting bolts and front body post is slightly more foreward. Also got the protoform F1 15 body, not saying anything bad about it but for me really doesn't fit well.

For the rubber Yokomo tires (same profile as Pit Shimizu) but NOT the same compound...

I have found the rear softs to be not any better than the Pit 572 for asphalt or carpet. It comes with 5mm thick rear inserts versus 4mm on the Pits. I've tried both setups, the 5mm insert being a little more twitchy and more unforgiving for me.

The front mediums are a harder tire than the Pit 571 and push a lot more. If you run on lower traction asphalt and more of a "push brake" sort of guy versus "more drag brake", then that tire would suit your driving style.

Front softs are an aggressive tire. Much more steering than the 571 and act almost like the 574, but with a calmer turn-in. They seem to fair better on asphalt versus 574 too. I like this tire a lot on carpet.

On asphalt, I still find myself going back to Pit 571/572 combo. Works well at our local tracks.

I run a Protoform 15 body on my X1 with no problems. You may need to run one of the 2 cell flat packs which will allow the body to fit lower in the rear.

I have the 15 on mines as well and have no issues clearing a normal 2s shorty with Lopro bullets.

Maybe you could show a picture of how you cut the back of the body, thanks
