Just got in from some practice drift. Really do enjoy it. Gonna need tires soon tho. Mine are close to the rim. Browsing used cs chassis so I can compare to my current setup without feeling trapped if I take a long time to adjust.

Im not sure the apex has available cs gear sets. The only cars i have seen that offer those are the higher end yokomos, tamiya vds, some mst, and a few more exotic jap chassis. Doing it with belts is much much easier, and you can really fine tune the overdrive ratios.

If you ever look into a cs capable car, go with a belt drive, and look for something with known usable setups. yokomo has been around for a long time and offer good products. mst do as well, but they can cost a lot more, and they don't have a lot of middle of the road kits such as yokomo. you are either getting a bare bones kit, or a bling machine. Again, 3 racing have excellent products, and its what i would look at first. a plus is that they are already cs overdriven from the factory.

Hey does anyone know if the stealth magnet mounts hold up? I just painted my first body and don't wanna drill holes in it.

Magnetic and Velcro mounts each have their pro's and con's, but both work. The magnetic ones tend to pop off on impacts where the Velcro ones are harder to get the body on perfectly straight every time.

Ordered a heap of parts the other day. New motor and esc for the mst and pulleys and belts for d3. Pulling motor and esc from the rwd mst to put in sakura for my son

MikaR car looks insane dude. Love the mods and paint job. I'm not at that level yet lol. How is the Kyosho chassis that you're using holding up? I just picked up one of those hobbyking touring car chassis fully assembled for a steal. Gonna drop a motor and esc in it and see how it feels.

Hi and many thanks! Yeah it turned out pretty good, took like 3 days to work on/ build. I run and drift pretty much outside and I'm not a real drifter really and as such the kyosho is good platform solid and no surprises. The dDrive leaves plenty room for mods and stuff on board which is nice. Building these is so much fun, Cheers

Got this completed. The magnetic body posts work so much better than the clipses.



For serious drifting do you think this would make a great drifter - or what would be your choice ?

If was involved in a drift group, and was willing to spend the money, I'd go for one of the high end MST kits. Even then I'd have a hard time justifying spending near $1,000 on a drift car.
As for RWD. Well having a good surface is a big need. Tires can help, but I'm not sure enuff for some surfaces. So far, for me, RWD has been a letdown. I've given mine about a dozen runs. None have been close to good. Most have been terrible. And for combination of reasons. Wrong surface, wrong tires, wrong gyro or set wrong, or wrong servo for use with thst gyro.
Sorry to be a downer on it. But if I'd had really realized how tire/surface dependent it was, I never would have bought one.

Great looking cars MikaR. Thx for the info on the magnet mounts. I gotta get better at painting. Here are pics of my first attempts to paint one. I have to clean it tho lol

Thanks for comments. Actually I think I made mistake - that car is rear motor, not RWD. It is a 4WD. Any experience on that?

Thanks. Gonna order the stealth mounts. Not tryin to mess it up by not aligning the holes correctly. Also got a set wheels I think will look good. Once it's on I'll post pics.
