Hobbywing V10 G2 - wow
#1
I just got the hobbywing V10 G2 motor today and put it in my buggy. All i can say is holy cow. This is by far the fastest motor i have ever had. It is definitely worth checking out.
I think this one might be my best motor, even better than my reedy mach2 and mach3 motors, which were my go to motors up to now.

great to hear this review, I am patiently waiting for delivery for a 13.5t g2 to run in my xray t4, coming from a speed passion mmm it should be a big difference, but will it be enough up against more expensive motors like the trinity 24k or r1wurks motors? , time will tell but I am very happy with my 4.5t v10 motor in another t4, it runs fast and cool.

hi guys, had my first test run of my v10 g2 13.5t yesterday, motor is in an Xray T4 , using a hw xerun v2.1 esc with no timing, started using an FDR just a fraction shorter then the national champions setup ( nationals were at this track last year ) and about 40 deg end bell timing, motor used in national champions car is an r1 Wurks just for clarification. car had heaps of punch but not enough legs in the straight, geared up 1 tooth and added another 5 degrees which helped but not enough yet, motor only hit 51 degrees celsius on a warmish autumn afternoon after a 6 minute run so there is plenty more to get out of the motor, I will go and have another run in a few days and will add pinion teeth 1 at a time till i either get it too hot or get enough top end speed, so far it is promising but wont know for sure till i can match it up against one of the fast local stock guys, one thing for sure is it was around a similar top speed to my previous speed passion mmm motor but with more punch and about 30 degees C cooler!

after spending some time with this motor in my 13.5 t 1/10 tc i would like to report my findings, overall i am relatively happy with this motor but i am still trying to find that sweet spot of timing and gearing, as it stands The really fast guys with the expensive motors have the edge over this motor but not by a great margin , i will keep trying to find that optimum point to see if i can turn the tables but either way i can compete against them with this motor ... but it isn't enough to beat them.
Now i don't believe in overheating things on purpose by over gearing so i won't crucify the motor in trying to keep up with the expensive motors, either way i will be in the race when i finally get the chance to compete on race days.
so far if i had to give it a rating i would give it 7 out of 10 , happy with it but not blown away.
cheers

hi guys, i am not saying this is not a good motor because it is, but on my local track ( large outdoor ) outright speed is king and some motors do it a little better , 3 motors i can think of in this range are the Fantom , 24k revtech & r1 wurks,. The other motors sound like they are screaming thru the rev range but honestly down low and mid range the v10 doesn't give away anything even though it does not sound as fast, its just outright top speed that's it is a little down, never the less i wont give in and will keep searching for that sweet spot in the hope i can close the gap
cheers
