can someone please explain why the b6d has rear shocks mounted in the back of arm versus b6 in front of rear arm? is it for traction purposes? how does each location affect each car per their respective surfaces that they are intended for? like i read somewhere in the past day that a true carpet lcg car needs the shocks in the front of the rear arm. whats the story with that? thanks in advance for any explanations.

just check out video by kody and all he mentions is that under really high grip conditions it is really important to have shocks in front of arms. but doesnt really explain why.

also noticed the idler gears between the b6 and b6d are different, with the carpet car having a noticeably larger looking idler. is its gear diff smaller to compensate in compared to b6d ball diff? Or do they have different final drive ratios? thanks

Final drive is the same. It's because the upper shaft is farther away from the diff gear. Basically think of it as stretching out the transmission.

Correct. Shaft gear and diff gear makes the ratio. All the other gears between just make it spin the dirrection you want. They could use three small or one big same ratio either way.

Any idea, guess or thoughts if the b6 will use the same c and d mounts as the b5m? I'm wondering how many upgrade parts from my b5 will work on the b6. B5 Schelle rear hubs, pucks, and ti axels look like they may fit on the b6.

Having driven both the B5s and the original YZ2 I can say the yz steers better and has higher corner speeds in its near kit form. However, the associated suspension absorbs the jumps better IMO, and it generates way more grip stock so it's a pushy setup from the kit settings.
If these new B6s can come close to the YZ2 in cornerspeed and still jump and generate grip better they will be on my short list to buy.
Having ran a lay down tranny (yz2) for over a year now I can definitely see the benefit of two seperate cars for high (B6C) and medium to low grip conditions (B6D).

This has been my exact experience with the yz-2. I race at on high bite indoor clay and if the layout is relatively flat with lots of sweeping corners i can blow by the b5ms mid corner and turn a faster lap. If the layout has lots of jumps and rythm sections ive got nothing for them. Ths b5m settles way faster than my yz-2 after landing and they smoke me.
I too am really hoping th b6 has the corner speed of the yz-2 and the jumping of the b5m.
