Default REVIEW-WLToys Vortex A969 1/18 4wd Short Course Truck

In this review we will be taking a look at the A969 SCT in WLToys new lineup of 4wd 18th scale rigs.

Let's get started with some eye candy

The truck is equipped with a brushed 390 size motor, steel dogbones front and rear, and adjustable oil filled shocks. Running on the included 2s lipo battery it is surprisingly fast. I will get a GPS speed reading on it ASAP.

The transmitter is very comfortable to use, and is very similar in appearance to some Spektrum radios.

I've run three packs through the truck, and so far I am very impressed with its performance. It has cartwheeled on pavement a few times now without any parts failure. For the price it is a great little rig. I will post some running video soon.

Small update. The shocks felt to me as though they might not have any oil in them, or if they did, it was very little. I decided to open them up and check everything out. They were actually all pretty close to full, however what was in them felt as though it might have been 10wt. It was very very thin. I filled them up with some 30wt Losi oil, and the suspension feels much better now. It was super springy, and bouncy out of the box.

I want to like these WL Toys vehicles, but they all have the ugliest shells and wheels I have ever seen.

I wonder if an SC18 shell would fit this thing....

I'm pretty sure the SC18 body is too narrow. I ordered one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/400999068561...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and am pretty sure it is going to be a perfect fit. Price was definitely right. I'll post some pics once it arrives.

Clear body is en route. Hopefully have it by Saturday, and can report on fit. Going to try and get some video tomorrow. Between work, and buying a new house, time is limited.

Got the Himoto body in from Atomik. Fits very well, for anyone wanting to paint up their own shell.

Not at all! They're very good running little rigs.

Anyone else been running these WLToys A9X9 series rigs? It seems they've been getting more and more popular lately.
