Hello all,
Just recently started pulling all my gear out of storage. I've had a few things out and played a bit now and then picking up a few things on the way. Now I'm seriously trying to sell off some stuff and "update" to new tech.
I just picked up an SC10.2 and an SC10 4WD kit. Trying to figure how to best prioritize expenditures on new gear vs. using my existing gear. I spent a day testing out my electronics to see what's good...
What I have...
- Airtronics M8 and 3PS with 4 working receivers
- 2 LRP speed controls and Tekin G10
- Victor HiQ JR., 2 Pulsar Sports, and new Quadra2 Pro Charger
- 6 x 2400 NiCd race packs (all cycled twice and all worked identical, guess it pays to take care of the batteries
)
- 3 x Modified and 5 x stock motors all with relatively little run on them
- 2 new Hitec MG analog servos and 2 Airtronics ~old analog MG servos
So to "update" to current I was looking at what I should buy and how much budget for each. I do expect better than "beginner" gear, but I don't need the high-end I used to buy. The idea being for some fun in the dirt and some casual racing as time permits. I have a 2yo so I won't be racing every week...
- New Brushless System?
- New 2.4Ghz radio/receiver?
- NiMH or LiPo batteries?
- Digital Servos?
I'm most confused by the new batteries and the pros/cons.

Hi well if all you going to do is just take them out a few times a month you only need 1 thing maybe 2 ..
1 is a 550 traxxas titan to put in 4x4 with the G10
2 might wanna update the M8 to 2.4ghz but the fm will be fine..
you have chargers to charge lipos if you decide but i dont think you do.. fun is fun dont have to drop hundreds in when what you have is fine to bash with

I just put a castle SCT 3800 kv system In my sc10.. For around 100$ and love it.. It has plenty of speed and tons of torque.
Great system.
As far as lipos you can get some SMC 5000mah 40c for 27$ a lipo if your going brushless you will want lipos and SMC makes a great budget lipo IMO...
Sometime in March Novak is coming out with a sensored 4 pole system for 120$ called the Hammer looks like a nice system I will be definitely getting one.
The Futuba 3pl is a great radio fits all my needs as is no slouch.. They run about 100$ check out towerhobbies find the coupon codes and you can get some good deals they also have 3 pay if you need it..
