I also found the virtus ran hot when I ran them. The last time I used one was the 2014 worlds in Thailand. My Mito runs at around 200-205 degrees at peak power.

I ran my mito in practice this motor is smooth fast crisp and on point. I switched to my Keepon for qualifing since I only had 12 tanks thru my Mitot but even slightly rich the motor is fast and has better fu=I economy. This are my quick observation I need to get More time with the motor I will post more thoughts.

Just seen this thread.

Brought a Mito factory prepped to get back into running some 200mm. Thought I couldn't go wrong with a quality Novarossi product, right eh.

Ran approx ten tanks through it lightly before taking it to the track and race tuning it. Was run with RB 16% fuel. Got just under three club meets out of it before it lost compression. That's three heats and one final per meet.

Recon it's the best boat anchor I've ever brought.

Will be some time before I buy another Novarossi.

Did you add caster oil to your fuel?

I thought I had a good handle on what to do with an I.C engine.

I've run nitro for over fifteen years on and off. I've never worn out an engine to the point of no compression (especially in such a short time). Replaced rods, the odd bearing and brought new engines as needed for major events.

I've also never had to add oil to quality fuel (used RB, Runner time pretty much exclusively) at any time to break in any engine.

I've run a variety on brands but mainly RB with pretty good success but never had a quality product perform so poorly.

The new fuels are using less and less oil. The off-road engines don't need as much oil as the onroad engines do. Most fuel is 9 to 8 percent oil. If you plan to run onroad and use fuel not designed for onroad engines you need to add 2oz of Nova 1on1 caster to every gallon.

what temps were you running?

did you rotate flywheel to bdc every run?

any damage internally on sleeve, piston or rod?

About 110 or so.
Pick it up and reach for the flywheel each time to bring it down to bottom.
Nice tan piston top, clean through out.
Actually if you consider the few heats I didn't run complete with a few new car blues the engine probably ran a bit over an hour total.

If it is nice and clean inside your fuel for sure doesn't have enough oil. Everything should have a nice coating of oil.

By clean I meant no burning or discoloration.

Same quality brand name fuel used (RB) many times over in other quality products with great success and component longevity.

The Mito, it appears, didn't like it.

That's my story, hope you guys do well with yours.

I'm off to buy an OS.

Make sure you add some oil for that OS as well.

Just like any other products, I think you could get a bad batch from time to time. For instance, people say great things about Ison .12 but to my experience it is a piece of junk. I'm still waiting for Desoto to restock Mito and I give it a go. Can't wait for it since Virtus I have is fast but runs way too hot and I don't like it.
