Yes.

From spec post (#251):

POWER REQUIREMENTS:

12VDC @ 100mA minimum if using decoder's internal 5V regulator. Decoder is polarity protected.
Or,
5VDC @ 100mA if running directly from USB port (bypassing decoder's internal 5V regulator)-- NOT polarity protected!

Thanks Howard, I was sure I had seen it somewhere.

Default help connecting to zrounds

Has anyone success connecting to zround race manager. I have tried everything I can think of. I can run flipside just fine and using a terminal window I can see the decoder just fine with Howard's copyright notice.

You may not have the version with support for the Cano decoder. Email sent.

I have made a start on the project and started with the amp board. When testing it seems to be generating a lower voltage than Howard saw. Voltages on the board seem OK, should this work OK?

On what node are you seeing this signal?

As per the testing rig you posted early in the thread on the coax core

It looks fine. It's a bit hard to see the reticule on your scope, but it appears that you have about 200mVPP, which is what is shown in post#42.

EDIT: Oops, make that 20mVPP! That's low. Do you have your probes and scope set properly? I often accidentally move the probe's 1X/10X switch to the wrong position when handling it.

Also make sure the jumpers for the tuning caps are set correctly to match the loop size, as given in the specification post.

Thanks for the reply, I will double check scope but probe was 10x for sure. I will try jumpers as my loop is 1x10 and I did not use a jumper but it might be on the edge of needing J3.

Hi Howard

I think I am fine, set the scope up properly instead of just switching it on and hoping this time, recalibrated the probe and put J3 in place have a lovely clear and strong signal now ;-)

I keep remembering stuff, parts of my brain that have not been used in a while, very cool that there is stuff hidden away ;-)

Just some progress pics. Build is complete, just need a USB to RS232 conversion cable as none of my laptops have serial ports.

Power is via USB, I may convert so that one USB plug can do the power and RS232 but I am not sure how the converter is wired so that bit will wait. Amp is tested and working, PT's are tested and working, the decoder LED comes on, just need to see the bootup message and signals being recognised.

Nice work there Gareth! I still haven't started my project (based on the same PCB's as cutting42's above). I believe you could have gotten away with some smaller boxes...
