First E maxx. battery question.

Sounds like an awesome idea but like mentioned above your vehicle won't last very long.
I have a quick question because in my e Maxx the 3s plastic strap down things I set to the higher side which is 28mm I believe but I have to use that to run 2x 2s 5200mah batteries how are you guys even running two 3s without using like 2800mah's.. Custom Velcro wrap around a of some sort? Because for the heck of it I tried Velcro on the bottom of my 2s batteries and the other side of Velcro on the battery tray and that wouldn't even hold in for more than a 2 min casual flat street infront of my house ride.
Any suggestions?

Just an update. I just installed the 12volt dewalt tonight. Had stock gearing 17/68 and I moved up to 18/68 because of the size of the dewalt. I did weight the motors, and the dewalt is 3oz less than the twin titans. However 8000mah 4s battery is 5oz heavier than 2 2s 5000 batteries. So I am a total of 3oz over stock. But for a dewalt 12v on 8000mah. I am happy.
It was glitchy running 4s through the bec side of the evx2 with the non bec side shorted. evx was hot. So I ran a castle bec seperate and now its super smooth and esc is no longer hot.
Mounted the motor on the passenger side to counter the battery and set lower.
Man the 12vlt dewalt is a lot faster than the titans. I am guessing several mph faster. the tires will actually balloon some. And the torque is instant. very easy to wheelie even while rolling. I know its not a brushless, but its pretty damn good for 40bucks and the stock evx. Heck of a cheap upgrade in my op.
Still have to find larger straps for the battery. Zip ties are temporary. Caslte bec needs fastened down yet.

If you don't have a dremel, mark a straight line on the chassis where your straps will go. Then drill a series of holes as close to each other as possible. You can force a normal drill bit to drill sideways into the hole next to it if you do it right. With the bit in the hole apply some pressure on the bit in the direction of the hole next to it and move the bit in and out of the hole while drilling. It probably won't be perfectly straight so only do this to enough holes so you can get a hacksaw blade in there. A hacksaw blade will cut cleaner and straighter, wrap one end in some tape for a handle. Then use the blade to connect the rest of the holes and make the slot wider. Go slow and don't use much pressure, let the blade do the work.

Mine is the 820 12v version. I had to do some research but i found the correct part number. The 12v version is a hotter motor. It runs about 500kv/volt faster than the 14.4. 4s was the most i was planning on running even though you can run 5s through it. And by "hotter" i mean its got more pep. And more heat obviously. So i probably cant run as tall as gearing as you did. And i am going to run a fan on the esc and motor to be safe. But with 8000mah i am not worried about the extra battery drain.

with the single 8000mah 4s pack and 12v dewalt. I started with a full 4.20 charge. Ran 30 minutes pretty straight(maybe 5 minutes not moving total) Much faster than the titans on 5s. So after 30 minutes I stopped, checked the voltage and had 3.92 per cell. pretty good. No heat to speak of. So I may bump it up 3 teeth on the pinion just to push it. I usually gear to 140 degrees after a long run. Whatever gearing combo gets me there is my optimum effeciency. The 30c battery has 240 continuous amps available. So I am more than ample there.

Alright i ended up running 45 minutes total solid run time in that mess. Checked the battery. 3.82vlts/cell. Which means it will run a solid hour until lipo cut off! That is just awesome! Battery was 56$ motor was 40$. This may be old news to some of you. But its exactly what i was hoping for. Here is a little vid. Again its not brushless but its enough for what i want it for.

Nice runtimes! I had a Dewalt 14.4 in an Erevo on 14cell NiMh and I was always impressed with it. I always wanted to try it on a higher voltage and/or lipo but didn't want to use the EVX2 as I had a buyer for it. So when I went lipo I went brushless too. Never been fond of the idea of brushless motors and water (too expensive and it seems abusive) so maybe one of these days I'll build the dewalt mmm2 rig I've got in my head.

IMO Brushed is the best way to go in an E Maxx. Not that I regret going brushless in both of mine.My wallet would have been happier not having to shell out a few thousand to upgrade them to handle the power.
