alright a deal came up on ebay I couldn't pass up for $220 shipped, got two of the tacon short course trucks with one having a new never painted body, some CNC knuckles and extra all ready to go. Maybe give one to my daughter to play with.
Anything I should know about the short course versions and any spares work picking up right away?

Cain,
You got a great deal on those Thrillers for $220. The spindles seem to be a weak spot on these trucks. Sounds like the previous owners has already upgraded these parts to aluminum. Other issues I've seen with these is the stock body cracks easily. The clear bodies you paint yourself hold up just fine, no durability issues. There's a seller on eBay that sells Kamtech bodies for the 1/14th Thriller. I purchased one last year. It's a great looking body and very durable!!
Do you plan to bash or race these?

thanks!
It was funny just looking around at them just gathering info and wham these popped up and I was like, "darn it, now I have to buy" lol.
There is a track that I guess runs the 1/14s so I may see about racing them there. Another track that runs on tuesday nights but is about an hour or so away may let me run this too if other 1/14 guys are there.
Personally if these took off, I'd be curious to sell off a different vehicle class.
As a side question, how hard is it to convert these that I got on the way to say rally specs?

cool. Any things I should look for out of the gate?
And what doe these trucks use for pinions? I got a rack of pinions that came in with an rc18t here, but not sure if those work?

The spur/pinion is .5 mod which is the same as the rc18t. I used one on my mini 8ight but I think the motor shaft on the LC racing/Tacon cars are bigger. Robinson Racing makes .5 mod pinions that work and Hot Racing makes both steel spurs and pinions, which is a necessary mod in my opinion if you run off road.
