Been out of the hobby for a few years (kids...LOL). Looking to get a brushless basher RTR in either 1/8 or 1/5. What are some solid rigs out there these days? Waterproof would be nice so I can mess around in snow.

Take a look at the Cen Colossus for an 1/8 scale and the Redcat Rampage XT-E for a 1/5 scale.
Don't own either of these, so just suggesting on other folks reviews. But these are two of the trucks I would buy if I were in the market for another one.
