What are your thoughts on this radio? I have one and I love it.

I bought one a while back for my kid as his hands are still very small. Works fine. I like how the AA's last a long time before it needs a charge. Other then that, just waiting for the steering spring to fail.

I have the DX4S as well. I use it on my off-roaders. Not a bad radio for what it is, good menu. I wish the steering wheel was much smaller in diameter like my 4PKS-R and old JR R1's though.

Yup. For me, I find the wheel a little springy but is is a great radio

On my DX4S I run the Dynamite aluminum steering wheel for bling. It looks nice. Same large diameter and coarse foam though.

Nice radio for the money, Iv'e had mine going on 2 years now. Be prepared however for the steering return spring to break, mine did at just over a year old, but they are pretty easy to replace. Other than than that it's been very good to me.

Just do not run NiMH in Spektrum radios, they do not like the lower voltage. Either get Alkaline or NiZN. With that you will not have issues and should do well.

I run Panasonic eneloops in my DX4S and kid's DX4C. Those are NiMH. No issue for us.

I have always used NiCads in my DX4C (and its predecessor, the DX3C). I have not had any range problems, even on a large outdoor track.

I was plagued with issues and that cleared up when I went to better batteries, got away from the 1980's tech level of power. If you are not having issues, that is great, but the transmitter is not happy with low voltage and a NiMH is 1.2 volts while the Alkaline AA they are designed for is 1.5 and the NiZN is 1.6 volts.

I invested less than $20 in a couple of chargers and about $2 each the AA sized NiZN batteries and it has paid off better than most things I have bought into.

I'll check my batteries if I run into problems in the future. While my kid and I drive our trucks outdoors, there are only two of us running usually and we don't let our trucks out too far. NiMH has evolved through the years too.
