Is there any special wiring or setup changes to run a HW Juststock on a 1S lipo?

You can disable the voltage cutoff and run a Turnigy $5.00 inline voltage booster

I didnt do anything special. I removed the fan and just plug and play like usual. I did have to change the brake setting up to %100 but I think thats more to do with the motor than the esc. Mine works just fine as is, but maybe a voltage booster or receiver pack would be helpful.

I need to look into the $5 turnigy booster, that's a great deal. I run the $33 Novak 1S Booster, it works great....

I just swapped my Trinity 1S SS (certified edition) with the R1 Wurks Premium. What a difference on my large (for a 12th scale) asphalt track where we have to squeeze every single RPM out of our blinky 17.5 cars; I had so much speed on people it felt a bit unfair at my last club race.

Another motor I like to run in my 12th (again, on large asphalt, haven't hit carpet yet) is the Team Powers Actinium with a 12.3 mm rotor, but I think I'm liking the R1 a bit more. I know these aren't cheap options, just sharing my personal experience.

Is this the specific booster you used?

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...arehouse_.html

I'm a little confused as to where it plugs in exactly?

Thanks for the help!

The wired plug goes to your receiver. The input end goes to battery positive and negative. I always wire a switch in series with the positive lead. On most setups you will be leaving the ESC switch in the off position, so you can simply remove it and use it in the positive lead to the booster.

Thanks for the reply. I have a better understanding of how it hooks up. In order to get a clean install if someone has a picture of this booster installed it would be a big help.

Thanks!

Ok I got it working using the same setup that I used for my Tekin. I am using the really old HK blue booster (MPT?).
My servos didn't work using the booster inline on the servo channel. I ran a servo lead from the B+ an B- post on the esc with the booster to an empty channel and ran the steering in the normal receiver channel. left the switch off.

What do you think guys using a 2S LiPo low profile battery (like the IP 2S 3500 SHV LP) with a 17.5t motor in blinky mode compared to the current electronic configuration (1S 10.5t blinky)?

Hold tight. I'll show you a video with my car running 2s 21.5 motor. It's plenty fast, and a 17.5 would be a ballistic missile.

Edward, the man of the situation! I was waiting for your answer as I remembered you told us drivers in Japan had an "outlaw" class to run 1/12th scale chassis and 2S LiPo

In the meantime, I checked some motor specs to determine which 2S combo would have quite the same performance as the classic 10.5t 1S combo (this is the specs from Team Orion VST2 Pro Stock website; because I currently use a 17.5t Orion motor):

10.5t (385W - 4570kv) @ 1S = 16909kv
17.5t (295W - 2600kv) @ 2S = 19240kv
21.5t (250W - 2350kv) @ 2S = 17390kv

(FYI, as it seems to become the new regulation for the 12th stock class:
13.5t (330W - 3650kv) @ 1S = 13505kv)

So, the 21.5t motor seems to be the most relevant option to use 2S LiPo and compared to the classic 10.5t 1S combo.

But in the fact, here in Europe, people who run in the GT12 class can use a 17.5t 2S combo, so why not with a normal 12th car? And I remember some times ago, when you ran in WGT, you could choose between a 1S 10.5t combo or a 2S 17.5t combo (of course at this time, the slightly more powerfull motor for the 2S combo helped to deal with the increased weigth of the 2S battery).

I also would like to have your opinion about this measure: do you think guys 12th scale will move from 1S to 2S batteries in the near future? (with adaptation of the motor of course).

For me, I think it could be a very good solution: no more 1 cell specific ESC, less charging programs, no more booster or receiver pack,...
This could make people coming back in the class I think.

Regards,
G-rem

PS: thank you for the video Edward!
