Don't worry, the car is designed to work on 2s and 3s and it does both well. If you are worried on 3s or it gets hot you can go down a pinion tooth or two (they are about 5 dollars). You can gear a 2s motor taller to compensate a bit for what you don't get on 3s but nothing beats the higher voltage if you want things to be extreme. If you plan on racing the truck will have to be run on 2s and that will be more than enough for most tracks and you have some leeway on gearing to go faster if you wish.
If you are starting out, 2s is a good way to get your feet wet. 3s is a handful to drive. In the long run if you are going to exclusively bash 3s is fun.
I can only speak from my advice and my truck was rarely run on 2s when playing and now that its just raced it is only run on 2s.

Hi im new to rc tech and may be posting in wrong section.
I have had my e firestorm for a few years I think its my best rc, due to wear and tear the out drives have worn out and apart from ebay cant find any stores that keep them in stock in sydney australia if anyone knows where to get some from that would be great?
Thanks Mick.

[QUOTE=slowsrc;14033703]Just checked mine and it does have Blitz axles installed. If you like I can fit up some SC wheels using the stock Firestorm axles ?
That's what I'm trying to see if I need to use the blitz axles or can I still use the firestorm axles with blitz hubs

I have the new Flux, and I wanted to experiment the gearing provided in the box 35/77.
stock gears 19/88 + 2S 5A = fun to drive. fast. moderate heat
19/88 + 3S 5A = very fast. some wheelies. a little hotter than the 2S
35/77 + 2S 5A = Even faster. less torque. wheelies. heat needs to be monitored
35/77 + 3S 5A = crazy fast. uncontrollable. permanent wheelie on full throttle. heats up very fast.
I kind of like the 77t spur, and tried to reinstall the 19t pinion but it wont reach the spur gear. any ideas on what lesser tooth pinion will work with the 77t??

I got hold of a S/H Firestorm back in February for £50 and I have been too busy with other stuff (like SC) to actually do anything with it. I've finally dusted it off and got it all set for the track again running a Turnigy TrackStar Waterproof 1/10 Brushless Power System 4000KV/80A and 2s Lipos.
I gave it a short run when I first got it with a 14T brushed motor and NIHM's and I was really pleased with it's handling, but I have yet to try it out with the faster setup.
I've fitted Axiel white crawler springs front and rear (fronts needed chopping down a bit) and they worked really well with the 14T motor.
I have Shumacher Yellow Mini Spikes on the rear and Blue V 2's on the front (with the V removed). Not sure how this will work but I do have a few options on tyres.
Hoping the first test will be on Sunday on my local, very large astro track

Bit of practice today, yellow mini spikes were ok but blue V 2's worked better on the rear. Didn't touch the front cut V 2's, they seemed to work well.

Just bought myself a e firestorm and waiting for parts to make it a better racer. Some alu stuff, D413 shocks on each corner, new tires and rims, graphite parts+++ will keep you updated
I ran it on 2C last night but was not happy with how much power came out..i have the original gearing..will try with the high speed gearing tomorrow. Is this the way to go? It felt really under powered and slow..checkee the ESC and power is at 100%.
