DX4R vs 3pk

HI. I'm on the fence about getting my next radio. I have a Spektrum DX4C now with 3 recievers so the Dx4r would be the easiest upgrade. Just the transmitter is on ebay for under $200. But I'm wondering if a Futaba 3pk is actually a better radio. The 3pk's are available on ebay for varying prices. It would seem like the dx4r would be better but newer doesn't always mean improved. Oh, forgot to mention that I picked these 2 radios because they both convert to left handed operation.
Opinions on the plus and minus'es of each radio would be appriciated.
Thanks,
Richard

Picked up a DX4r last year. I really like it! I had been using a 3PK. It was going to be my backup, but I got a good deal on another Spektrum.

Thanks for the replies and info. I can't afford the 4px, and the different models of the 3pk seem confusing when buying something used. Plus nobody recommened buying a 3pk. I guess I'm going to have try and get a DX4R used or the transmitter by it self new. Up to this point I have been either holding the DX4C sideways or upside down. My son says " why don't you just learn to drive right handed?". Easier said than done after 30 years.

Very cute.In your case I would get the DX4R. No need wasting the 3 receivers you already have for a mid-grade aging Futaba.

I run DX4S on my trucks and crawlers. It's a nice radio, I like the software.

I just had to have A Futaba cause the fast guys had them. Had no problems with my Spek DX3R. Got a 4PKS R. I like the feel of the Futaba but find some of it's operations are a little funky like model selection. I did like being able to put a Life battery in it. Also learned that I was able to run two different models at the same time when I accidentally left one car on and turned a second one on at the same time. Unfortunately I was way up on the drivers stand when it happened so folks were chasing my other car around for me. Still not sure how this can happen. Never did with my Spek.
Hindsight being what it is, I would have just upgraded my Spek.
I'm still not as fast as the fast guys either.

The 'advantage' is that you can run different model programs on the same car at different tracks. Like you can make a Car1 carpet and Car1 asphalt for example without having to re-bind the rx to the radio. But I do prefer my DX4S for the rx specific model since I'm kind of clumsy.
