This little guy can be found on sale around the $50 mark every so often. It is a Windows tablet, so you can run the full Hotwire version. You'd be able to update firmware that you can't do from the Android app.
i found one for pretty cheap, fingers crossed as im praying its not a mobile, restricted version of the os, so it can run the hotwire, also let me strip the os down to the bare minimum for more storage...its soooo hard to get actual "computer" details on these things, instead of reviews like "netflix is soooo awesome on this!"

i never thought id have to buy a microsoft product again... ugh... well, its for the greater good of my r/c love, ill stand the pain

id literally be using the "device" only for programming my esc's, maybe firmware updating my other non tekin esc's, radios, charger.. im aiming at a dedicated hotwire, r/c only "computer"

cheap means under 50 bux if even possible, i dont really care for brand, features, just the most bare bones i would need to connect at a super cheap price

It's full blown Windows 8, warts and all

If you let all the (Windows) updates run, you'll run low on HD space... there's a link online somewhere on how to clear up that space after the updates are completed. You can add an SD card, I think you have to tinker with the settings a bit to be able to install programs to that card... we just use it for the Hotwire and once in a blue moon the browser if it's already out.. for basic stuff it's fine. Only other comment is to maybe pick up a cheap bluetooth mouse, just makes things simpler because of the small (touch)screen size. Other than that, it will work for everything... settings, esc firmware updates, the display is large enough to use the data logger, etc.

im gonna try to kill as many "apps" as possible, so it runs barebones, been reading up as much as possible... to run it as hotwire/charger/off brand esc/ firmware/software tool...

its really as close to a computer you can get for sub 100 bux... thank you so much for the heads up!

well for 65 bux plus shipping, i got a windows 8 tablet, a 64 gig memory card, a keyboard, mouse, usb hub and some cute fanny pack to keep it all in... god bless fleebay... i just dread going back to windows.. but hey, i can update my radios, esc's, my charger... my motorcycles, run megasquirt for my future car projects... its a shame i have 4 different devices now, to do what a "computer" of any brand should be ALLOWED to do... too bad i played networked doom instead of study in computer science... i wonder if it can run vrc?

You dont need the otg cable. I did however buy a cheap bluetooth mouse to use with it. Being that its a full version of windows, it does work using the touch screen, but i found the mouse makes life so much easier. The TW-700 works well with LRP software and Tekin Hotwire.

i got the tablet today, im not even gonna go into how annoying the setup of the tablet is, i detest windows, but full hotwire runs great! you get stuck having to download net framework 3.5, and jumping through microsofts, "no, i dont want to, no, i dont want that...no no NOO!!" a few more times, and voila, instant tekin! super cool to see the data log on my rx8...Finally...after a year of my gen 2's i can switch to my HV servos!!!

the auction i won came with a mouse and keyboard, i have gufus size hands and no way would i have the patience trying to touch screen ANY program, its super cool all i need is the tablet, mouse and usb hub

now i might be getting greedy, i wonder if i can finally play vrc off this, i have the adapter... now thats another thread, thanks guys for the advice, im gonna go play with my junk now
