What is the current hot ticket motor for 13.5T spec racing? My 2 top choices as of right now are either a D4 Certified Shortstack or a SchuurSpeed Select. What other motors should I look at? Orion LWs? What else?
The tracks I run on are all more torque tracks than top speed tracks.

I ran the 13.5 D4 from EA Motorsports (teameam.com) at the MN State Champs and at the MHIC with a win in MN and a TQ at Denver. Also ran an EA 17.5 D4 at those two races with TQ's and wins at both events. The 13.5 race in MN is among the best battles I have had in RC, too much fun!! Wore Troy Gubbins GoPro for the race in MN and got some pretty good race videos.

while most guys do seem to like the double blue/blue/greene family of rubber these days, I've still be getting good results running black fronts with grey rears. It's a pretty fine line though, because my car always seems to push too much if I use greylo rears instead of greys. So, for me, black fronts in combination with grey rears feels nicely balanced, grippy enough to be comfortable, and yet and free enough to be competitively fast. And it sure doesn't hurt that the black/grey family of rubber seems much less prone to picking up carpet fuzz off the track, so the balance stays pretty much the same from the beginning to the end of each run.
For 17.5 I use orange rears and black fronts. 13.5 orange rear purple fronts.
I picked up a 3 Racing 2014 edition truer recently and decided to get it setup "right" adding the CRC Final Cut Bit. I was trying to calibrate it this weekend and I'm hoping someone has some thoughts on how I can do this.
With the CRC Bit, the closest I can come to calibrating the depth cut is about 3.5mm from the "actual" reading so I ended up moving it back to 5mm to have a nice round number to measure from. So when the depth gauge reads "35mm" the actual cut will be 40mm.
Anyone have any experience with this type of setup? My OCD just isn't letting this one go.
This truer is REALLY nice, set it up with 2 x 2s Lipo's so it's completely mobile. With the CRC Bit it cuts PERFECT, just can't believe how nice the cut is.

I have it calibrated perfectly now. 36mm on the depth gauge will cut to EXACTLY 41mm so I'm happy with the accuracy. However, my OCD would do much better if I could get the guage to match the actual reading. The adjustment for the depth calibration isn't enough to get it right.

Most people just use the measurement to get close then use calipers to measure the tire as it is more accurate than the setting on the truer. Different density foams expand at different rates so what cuts perfectly with one foam may cut too small with a softer foam or too big with a harder one.

Cut a little. Nah, not enough. A little more. Almost there. A little more. Crap. Cut too much...
