Yeah I should be hanged for daring to say anything bad about nitro in the nitro onroad forum?!

I would argue that many of the high end nitro engine manufacturers design their engines for race applications. And with the size of most tracks, faster engines just aren't necessary.

That said, I would love to get my hands on screaming 130 mph+ producing Novarossi, but until then, I'm happy with brushless.

Sometimes it feels too easy to go fast with electric since you can build 120+ mph cars with off the shelf parts.

+1 not to mention that Brushless is "easy" no tuning involved (ESC setup does not count - thats like using cheat codes), no real strategy such as pitting for fuel, clutch setup etc. And to leave this thought - I would venture to say that 80% of the racers now that love Electric "Brushless" have never raced in the 80-90's when it was about brushed motors (timing and winds etc.) and not to mention the Battery wars. if the shoe fits...

I love Nitro, and will leave my "rant" at that.

1/8 IC Fan, I would not be surprise if the battery wars don't return for the electric cars and some kind of fast battery removal system on the electric cars too.

Yeah its called displacement..... Nitro still whoops ass on Brushless when it comes to power density...issue is we don't have any larger displacement car engines...But the formula is simple, to build a faster nitro just build a bigger engine...This is the universal law of internal combustion engines.

... it's funny you mention the quick change system. Who remembers the oval guys with the custom QC systems in the 90's like at the whip and thunderdrome. I think C&M, Bolink and hyperdrive had custom setups, and Kent C. and Cliff L. had some one offs.

If you first install a clutch onto your brushless car, then your question becomes fair and valid.

I would explore tuning and clutching one of the larger boat engines if possible...

How would your drag mod Nova 28-7 do?

.....................I have heard that some of the brushless electric motors can turn 50,000 plus or more rpms , I don't know that much about boat motors are there any large boat motors that can turn that high??

Castle's 540 motors read "100,000 RPM max" or somethiing like that on all of them. I run a 7700kv 1406 motor on 4s which revs it to almost 114,000 rpm.

I mean large nitro boat motors.
