Default Forward and Reverse are opposite

Hi
recently purchased a used Losi SCTE with a Tekin RX8 and Airtronics transmitter.
When I pull the trigger it goes in reverse and vice versa.

I'm able to reverse the motor using the ESC but I'm wondering if the wiring of the motor is reversed, i.e. positive to negative instead of positive to positive.

I looked at the tekin schematics and it the "C" tab on the motor is hooked to the "C" tab on the ESC, however, on the ESC, instead of a black wire its red.

Im thinking the polarity is reversed?
Help!

Not sure but make sure that the SCTE doesn't allow you to put the diffs in backwards. If they are backwards it will run backwards.

Is the motor sensored or sensorless?

It's a tekin 5.5 turn sensored motor.

I can reconfigure the ESC to run in reverse which makes the forward run forward and backwards run backwards, but I'd rather have it connected correctly

If the motor is sensorless, you can flip any of the two wires going from the ESC to the motor. (A-B, B-A, C-C). Or, if it's already like that, you can go to (A-A, B-B, C-C).

Its a brushless motor. There is not a "positive" or "negative" on brushless motors. That's why there are 3 wires instead of 2. Check you transmitter and see if the throttle "servo" is on normal or reverse. If it has that function, change it. That should do the trick. If your TX doesn't have that option, set your ESC for the other way. There is not a "right or wrong" direction nor will it effect anything. Just make sure your endpoints are set at 100% and recalibrate your ESC when it goes in the correct direction.

If the motor is on one side of the chassis, it will move the car one way. If its on the other side, it will go the opposite way. That's the reason ESC manufactures have this function. Not all cars are laid out the same so you instead of building 2 different ESC to cover this, they put that nifty little option in the software... Good luck.
