just got a Ichanger 308 today and I would like to ask others about settings and if this looks ok and right:

Change Capacity: Ignore
Change Current: 20A
Change Mode: Normal
Change Chal Volt: 4.2

Discharge Current: 20A
Discharge Voltage 3.5V/Cell
Discharge End Current 50%

Comen 0.01V

Looks good except discharge. Won't be able to do 20a unless you do regenerative discharge which requires a battery. Looks like 10.81 is max off of a power supply.

what should it be set to

10. You can do up to 30a with a car battery

the two questions are...

1) does my settings like right for doing it at 20A

2) Can someone please tell me how to find what Amp I can use based on the batt information..

For charging go by the mah. Example a 5000 mah battery can be charged @5A. Just a decimal after the first number. A 4500mah pack would be 4.5 amps. Most batteries can do twice that(2c) but a 1c rate is a good safe starting point.

The discharge is limited by the charger.. That charger can't do 20A without regenerative discharges into another battery. Or help from an external source

So then if I have a 4700mah 100C pack why is everyone telling me to charge it at 20a

The guys above are talking about discharges. If somebody is telling you to do 20A I wouldn't take that advise. Not all lipo brands recommend the same thing. Mine are limited to 2c. I've had some rated for 5c. Follow the battery's manufacturer recommendations. I think you will be safe at 2c(9.4A). But I would contact the maker to see if it's ok to do more.

Most spec class guys ARE charging at 20-30a nowadays, read the charging at 20-30a+ thread.......

I'd stay away from the 20 amp charges for just starting out. Work on the basics first, learn how to charge and care for the lipos properly, and driving and chassis setup.

The slight improvement with high discharge/charge rates, along with the risks involved and added knowledge to do it correctly, is something to consider after one can run consistent clean laps and get a good setup on the car.

Trying to start at warp 9 on the first week in the hobby (from other posts) is a recipe for disaster in my opinion. Many who start so aggressive encounter problems and don't stay long.

I like everything you posted except consider lowering the charge amps to something more reasonable as mentioned earlier. Perhaps 8 amps or so if you simply must for your shorty, or around 2C.
