what esc to get?
#1
i've recently purchased a b4.2 from my LHS as a roller. so far i've bought the smc 5.5t motor, and the saddle packs for it. now, im looking into esc's as i start digging for deals for them. My question is what esc would you guys recommend?
i got the smc 7.4v 5600 70c saddles if that matters. Also any recommendations for the servo?
your help is always appreciated.

A 5.5 is too fast for a buggy. Even pros don't usually use less than a 7.5. Most people use a 7.5-10.5 in mod buggy.
The saddle is the same size as a stick pack, and is a good choice for the b4.2
As for an esc, I like hobby wing escs. The v3.1 is their main esc to use for mod applications.
And for a servo savox offers good performance at great prices. Futaba and hitec are the other main option if you want to spend a bit more.
Just look for at least 120 oz in of torque and faster than .12 speed.

they do have a program box (about 30$ I think?) that is needed to get the most out of the esc. Im not sure if you can program the v3 without it.
The saddle will work in the buggy, and is a good choice, but you may consider picking up a shorty too. It is lighter, and will let you tune the weight bias front to rear.
