Revo 3.3 e-conversion ?s

I am building a revo for my daughter to run and I need it to be slow I want to be able to run it off 2s and just gear it way down. My question is I have a novak ballistic 4.5 550 will this work descent geared down? And where should I start with gearing, the extended pinions are $18 a piece through tekno, so I don't want to be doing a whole bunch of guessing to figure it out. Also using tekno e conversion kit with single speed tranny and 2nd gear locked.

The Novak 550 is really not the motor you want to be using, especially the 4.5t 5000kv model. It might be ok if you gear it for around 25mph or less but pay close attention to it to make sure it doesn't get too hot. If you run it in grass pay extra close attention as it'll heat up even faster.
Assuming your Revo 3.3 has the stock wide ratio trans gears, with 10t pinion, 40t spur and Talon 5.9" tall tires you'll be at 27mph. I doubt the pinions come any smaller than that and you don't want them any smaller otherwise they'll wear the spur out faster. The 40t is the largest spur as well. The only way to slow it down any further is changing the internal trans gears from the stock "wide ratio" to the "standard ratio" which would bring you down to a safer 25mph with 10/40 gearing and Talon tires.
If your Revo has the 6.3" tall tires with "wide ratio" trans gears you're at almost 30mph while the "standard ratio" trans gears bring it down to 27mph with the same 10/40 gearing. But I'd install the "narrow ratio" trans gears as they'll bring it back down to around 25mph which would be a safer bet. The trans gears are fairly easy to replace and cost about the same as a pinion (under $20). If it was me I'd use the "narrow ratio" gears (no matter what tire) and the lightest, smallest diameter tires I had. Both will slow it down and help keep temps as low as possible.

The problem is the weight of the truck. It's around twice the weight the Novak was intended to push around. It's going to be the same story for any motor originally meant for 2s. I don't have any experience gearing down to half the speed to know if that will make it survive. Also vehicles this size and weight are typically run on 4s, the extra voltage produces more power and moves the vehicle more efficiently generating less heat.

I let the kids play with my 6s powered LST, I just turn down the epa on the transmitter so it goes as slow as a radio shack toy. No changing motors or voltages needed. They do get annoyed when they hand back the Tx and I wheely after maxing out the epa's. They want to do that too! Not a chance! Lol
Since you have the Novak give it a shot. It's not worth buying a dedicated 2s motor that may or may not work. Running a larger 1/8 motor that your normally find in a Revo on 2s might work. But if you have a 1/10 2s-3s esc that might be too small for the bigger motor.

Try a 14 tooth pinion or maybe a 13. I'm using a 4500 copperhead combo. So far it seems fine...I had mid 70 temps the other day but to be fair, it was in the mid 50's.
I also have a monster mamba setup on 4s. I have the motor shut down to 60% just to keep from ripping apart the axles and drive train.
A little more info...I still have the 2 speed tranny setup and I'm using the mechanical servo operated brakes. The 4500 motor is setup for forward only and does not use the esc for braking. I believe this reduces the strain on the motor/esc.
Possibly why my temps are lower...

Well I decided to go with an 1:8th setup and am deciding on esc so far planning on 4s and just turning throttle down found a tekin t8 1350 kv motor for it. I am looking at hobbywing sct pro esc it's 120 amp esc will it be enough for the weight of the revo?

Yea I only plan on running it on 4 I just need it to be slower I don't want the truck doing more then 25 mph tops it's for a 3 year old to learn on I am shooting for run times and smoothness maybe I should have been more clear in my earlier posts I'll check out the turnigy esc
