Yup, you are right. Put a better servo in and no issues. I got some basic telemetry setup, works great. Liking the radio thus far.

Hi,
I have asked Graupner what servos could be used for 300 us neutral point signal so the 3 ms and 1.5 ms modes could be used and the reply is:

"Hello,

you CAN use HGM SLP, SOR, SST servos at 1.5ms PPM or 3ms PPM."

This one from Towerhobbies should work.

I have bought and installed a GM GENIUS PRO+T 90 esc. Updating the esc fw went smoothly.
It works with the x-8n as expected. In SUMD V2 mode provides online telemetry for RMP, TEMS, speed, current amps and voltage with the max values alongside including overall mAh consumed- all displayed on the radio screen. The ESC adjustments from the radio works perfectly.

I can say, the more I use the radio the happier with it I am.

Hi sbd, the telemetry output sounds great. I read in the description "It is possible to store telemetry data ... on a micro SD card", but I didn't find any information in the manual. Is it really possible? And if so, what is the temporal resolution (values per second)?
Is it possible to log the steering and throttle commands?

Thanks in advance.

can you adjust things like boost, turbo, drag brake etc from radio or is it more of a telemetry thing?

Trick, every possible setting of the ESC is adjusted through the radio. Just like with programming card but better as larger screen is available. I think it is even better than the Sanwa variant (Super Vortex Zero + RX 472) as all is not done through the AUX functions where you need to know where you are in the menu as the settings are under AUX and MODE. The x-8n shows the screens as shown in the manual for GM GENIUS PRO.

Steffen, I am in the same situation as you - the SD card logging is mentioned but explained nowhere. Here is what is my experience.
I was curious what is in the supplied SD card. There are few folders - Firmware, Log, Voice, Models. The "Firmware" contains fw in English, French and German. The Voice contains about 8 files for different language voices for the voice announcements. The log and model are empty.
I have plugged in the SD card into the x-8n, copied some voice files to check how they work and left the card in the slot. I have searched for any setting which could be related to Log on sd card with no success.
Then I've used the transmitter for some VRC sim and noticed the SD card icon looks as if something is recorded on the SD. I've checked the SD card and there are several log filed in the log folder. Why and how the log started, I have no idea. I tried to browse the files with the graupner log viewer and this is what is in:

Looks each frame is logged, including inputs. A 1 hour log is about 9MB.

Seems thex-8n has great potential and opportunity to improve the documentation and software..

sdb, thats what i wanted to know. looks like i got me a new esc coming in my new future. be nice to be able to adjust current limiter and such.

i wonder if you can bind one reciever/esc combo to more than one model. that would allow you to make a couple profiles based on if the track is slicker or higher bite.

Trick, I don't think this will work as the settings of the esc are saved in the esc itself, not in the model memory. If you want to have different esc profiles you may look at the TORO TS120 esc which has 10 profiles memory. Without the telemetry and the ability to be set via transmitter of course. It is excellent esc though.

Yes, you have to save the made changes. It takes a second or two.

the oen that comes with it will adjust all the way down to 1.5 but a lot of servos and esc wont work with it set that fast.

My SkyRC Programmer (PPM Monitor) finally arrived in the mail yesterday.

I just started testing the Radiolink Rx's and confirmed the measurements taken earlier by SBD, however I noticed that Gyro Rx was a little faster than the other 2 Rx's:

R4EH-G: Drift = 20us @ 58Hz (17.2ms)
R4EH-H: Drift = 17us @ 55Hz (18.2ms)
R4EH: Drift = 17us @ 55Hz (18.2ms)

I'm going to start recording all my other systems and will make sure to test various Rx's too... note that my tests above were consistent across 2 each of those Rx's tested (6 total Rx's in the test)

It's probably worth noting that I observed a range from 1000-1893us so 20/893 = 2.2% drift

Other radios tested:

BER-TRC1: Drift 4us @ 49Hz (20.4ms)
AuStar-AX5S: Drift 0us @ 49Hz (20.4ms)
Spektrum DX2E: Drift 2us @ 181Hz (5.5ms)
Turnigy 3XS: Drift 0us @ 62Hz (16.1ms)

I'm not sure that I fully understand what all that info means. Does it have to do with the response times?
