Default Ok to tidy a brushless system?

I see it in photos all the time; brushless systems neat and tidy under the body. I was about to do the same to my rig.....but read in the instruction manual for castle creation that you do NOT cut the wires! Now, I'm going to make the assumption that statement is more of a "warranty safety"?! I.E..... They say that to keep the warranty department from being flooded with claims?!

What is everyone's advice and/or experience with trimming brushless motors/ESC wiring?!

I can't think of an esc or motor where I haven't cut the wires to fit under the body cleanly. You would need to contact them to see what voids the warranty though but I know Novak's policy is, if it's soldered properly then it wont void the warranty.

Thanks, skeasor. I figured that was the case but I haven't messed with brushless systems much. I did, however, hear from some fellow racers to keep the wires the same length when shortening and to not make them too short. I don't know how short is "too short", though?! I would think sensored systems could be be cut any way you please......since they use a sensor for knowing the rotor position

Motors where the phase winding exit the motor and terminate on bullet connectors (380, some sensorless motors) are not ment to have the motor wires shortened as you are altering the cable length that may impact each phase winding differently.

I don't see it being a big issue with sensored 540 motors. I clean up the ESC wiring on all my cars as I want them looking neat under the body.

Not only changing the length of the windings, but the epoxy coating on the wires is very difficult to solder correctly.

My first ESC swap. Attempted to be tidy. I wouldn't cut motor leads as previously mentioned.

When I talked to castle they said it was fine to shorten the wires on their 1406/1410 motors. I then did it on my 1410 and it worked fine. Some motors may be wired so cutting the wires is risky, but the castel ones are fine.

Up till now, I have not modified any wires. I find a way to route/coil them neatly. However, I just bought my first 4wd buggy. It is a DB01 R with a Durga body. There is NO extra room on this thing. I put in a sensorless Dynamite setup; it fits nicely in regards to size but has too much wiring. I've barely managed to fit it all under the beater Baldre body that I have but it doesn't fit so much under the Durga body. Of course, why don't I just buy another Baldre body? Well, they are harder to find and more expensive.

I think I am going to try trimming everything this weekend and hopefully it works out okay. The good news is......I have a brand new Durga body that isn't painted yet. That will make it much easier to see the placement of everything as I try to make all things fit.

I know the feeling. Have a TLR 22 2.0 and there's not much room under the hood for wiring either...Even with everything trimmed mine still looks like a rats nest hah Some guys are really good at making it look tidy though.
