Yes , it is possible. Please read page 2 to 7 again .... you will find some creative racers who use TT01 55T spur gear into TT02. You need removing some materials from 55T in order to fit into the gear shaft.

Tamiya matching guides Says yes. You'll need the smaller gearbox out drives too.
I've tried eagle racing TT01 uni's in mine - some fitted and some did not but that was depending on length / how much camber you run with.
Many sellers on eBay have the universals sold under both TT01 ans 02 as well.

I don't think the rear uprights will fit though, the design is too different. I'm using yeah racing rear toe-in uprights and am very happy with them.

Given that your using upper turnbuckles there's a chance the lower attachment points might fit (sorry, don't have a TT01 to check) but there's the additional difference that with the TT02 the rear uprights are reversible to give you different ride heights, so you could run into issues there.
With the upper turnbuckle attachment, I've toy'd around with getting a set of adjustable (for camber) upper arms and then using a turnbuckle-end to attach it to the chassis, thus allowing the use of normal uprights but with a ball end attachment to the chassis. Not sure if that's something to consider.

Also worth noting that the yet to be available Type S may provide some additional options.

My YR rear uprights are 2 degrees. I don't have much experience to compare it to but they were a good change from stock.

I've had a couple of evenings on the track with my TT-02D and one of the front knuckles have cracked already. Didn't take much of a knock to do it. I'm wondering if the grey A parts that come with the 'D' are weaker than the standard black parts.

Think I'll be using aluminium ones from now on.

I'm pretty sure that your steering block broke on the underside of the steering block, am i correct?
To avoid that i've done the following.
I build my TT-02 as a rally version, meaning that you flip the rear uprights upside down and at the front replacing the spacer from the bottom to the top of the steering knuckle.
This can be done along with some TRF mini dampers or with some super mini cva dampers.
So far i haven't broken a standard steering block anymore, it's because of the spacer that sits for onroad racing bellow the steering block that it brake's to easily.
It's causing a weak spot to the steering block, that's just my experience with the TT-02 steering blocks.

Just my 2 cents opinion

Here's a shot of it. I think it ties in with what your saying. The break is exactly round that spacer.

Everyone that has broken a steering knuckle from a TT-02 looks Always the same as your broken one.
That's why i changed it.

The grey parts supplied with the D spec are actually advertised as reinforced parts if you check tamiya.com! It was thought that they reinforced this piece due to similar experiences to what you've described Johny.

I've been rally bashing two TT02’s for a while now, set up as Blue describes without any problems (hopefully I haven't just jinxed myself!).
However note I also run mine with a TT01 'square' branded suspension guard specifically to reduce the impact to this sensitive area.

I decided to go Tamiya purple/green pearl with aluminium light buckets.

I am running a 9t, 4370KV brushless
60A ESC
4200mah NiMH battery (because this is just my parking lot basher)
Sakura D3 suspension
Sakura bearings in the wheel hubs (temporary measure)
D-Spec rims and tyres
Turn buckles to adjust toe in on the front











I have ordered a a genuine alum. shaft
TC CVD's all round
Alum. driveshaft (genuine Tamiya)
Yeah Racing alum. driveshaft cups
A new 'A' parts tree (don't use thread lock on the plastic lol)
Full bearing set

Will be getting the motor fan
Alum. knuckles
Adjustable upper A arms (front)
Alum. steering set
Alum. servo posts
Alum. battery bar

If you don't like the tamiya driveshaft try the eagle racing one. I've used both and the eagle one seemed to sit a lot better.
