I've used a PC based slow mo editor with 30fps. The results are fair to average. These programs prefer 50fps and above for the best results.
Some conclusions are that slow mo is still best done with camera hardware like a Gopro with 60fps ++
Have any videographers experimented with the 60 fps 1080p versus the 120fps in 720p for youtube/pc based videos?
Does the 120fps give smooth slow motion?
Any other quick tips for using the Gopro for R/C videos that you could share would be appreciated.
Anyone got news on the Gopro4 with 240fps at 720p??
Thank you.

Also you only loose a small bit of quality when comparing to 1080, so it's my favorite mode to shoot in.Don't get me wrong, the 1080 looks really nice, but for shooting rc cars the slow motion beats high quality IMO. But it depends on what you're filming, some times you need that crisp quality. Check out my youtube channel. I've done plenty of onboard and steady cam shooting. I also put what mode I was shooting in, usually in the the description.

But as far as the Hero4, I haven't heard anything yet

Hey there. Like you were getting at, 60fps is really the bottom line if you want to get decent slow mo. I have a channel and primary use my Hero3 black to shoot my videos. I mostly shoot at 720/120fps, but I'll sometimes do 1080/60. I personally like 120fps because of the smoother slow mo playback. Compared to 60fps, you can slow it down to a 1/4 of the speed while maintaining smooth frames. It really does make some nice slo mo, couldn't image higher frame rates

I got a gopro 3+ but can't edit the 720@120fps vision in premier elements 8. anyone recommend some good software that doesn't jump and freeze up? thanks

A little while ago I posted these here when using a 30fps compact digital camera to film some R/C action. I now have a GoPro 3+.
software slowmo is time consuming and hardware heavy. Your GoPro at 120fps@720 is hands down a better choice.
it absolutely does!
premier elements 8 or higher would be fine on bigger hardware than i was running at the time. I'm using an core i5 iMac with iMovie and it been mostly good but premier elements 8 is better in some aspects.
JRapid is 110% correct!
here is an edited vid on some classic vintage r/c action I shot recently with slow mo between 20% and 50% but mostly 25% to 33%

I checked out some vids on your channel. nice slow mo. I agree with the 720@120fps giving great vision for rc! thanks for the link.

Just watched it, great video! I need to stop messing around and upgrade. I'm planning on getting a Hero4 black but it's rumored the 5 maybe, and I mean maybe coming out in the fall. Reading some of the possible specs it might come with a hefty price tag.

Thanks for that!
The gopro 3 and 4 all do a great job. more resolution is great buy has its drawbacks when editing. you'll need a highend machine with plenty of everything to run it smooth.
further hi-res stuff is isn't suitable worldwide as some countries just don't have the bandwidth for more than 720 and when it lags people just switch to another vid
