Will test the samix conversion this weekend too. I say it has a considerable change in flex characteristics.

Haven't heard from Kentech about the results from the race using this conversion?

I will be racing this car on carpet in either touring 17.5 blinky or vta. The samix conversion supposedly has more flex than the kit chassis so would this help improve performance of the car? Or is it mainly for helping to improve performance on outdoor asphalt tracks?

+1 how will chassis do on the rug or is it jus for tarmac?

You need more chassis flex for mod in low grip, not for 17.5.

My understanding of chassis flex is to have the right balance of flex vs suspension movement. If the chassis stops flexing before the suspension compresses to its maximum travel on a turn, you end up with a darty car. If the chassis keeps flexing too much, you have a lazy car. When you have the right stiffness, the car just becomes so much easier to drive imo.

I'm sure the softer samix chassis for the 418 will benefit all types of asphalt conditions in different classes. The stocker is simply too stiff. For carpet, I would try out the front steering brace included in the samix conversion. As far as the build goes, the chassis holes are perfect and everything went together fine.

I've tried 3 (in total) chassis's and after bolting on the Samix in early May I have no reason to take it off. The car works a lot better now in low and extremely low grip. Very happy!!

which chassis have you tried? Are you running mod or stock?

The Samix looks tempting! Any comparisons with Samix and Raceberry Hard chassis for stock 17.5?

I tried the Kit chassis, a Berserk 2.0mm chassis, and the Samix 2.3mm chassis. I also have had made a Bersek 1.60mm, 2.00mm, and 2.25mm Top Decks.

I've only raced mod. Hobbywing 3.1V esc and Hobbywing V10 4.5t motor.
I couldn't comment if the Samix chassis will be better in the Spec classes. We need someone to try and report back.

In respects to flex its hard to define, but if the Kit Tamiya chassis was rated at a flex of 10 (hard), and the Bersek 2.0mm was a flex of 5, then I'm guessing then Samix 2.3mm chassis is a flex of 7.5
As said before, the faster you go the more chassis flex is required. the slower the car the more rigid the chassis needs to be. Of course there are exceptions, conditions, and circumstances that are contrary to this, but I've been very happy with the Samix thus far. Another factor to be considered is the Samic Motor Mount. This mount used 4 mount screws and are considerably narrower/more central on the chassis.

The Kit chassis I wrenched and wrenched on that thing. I could get it to steer and to have rear grip but could not give it cornerspeed. The Bersek 2.0mm was way better but stalled mid corner (too much flex). Samix seems to be the winner out of the ones I have tried (not saying there isn't another out there that could work just as well or better).
Heck, it seems even Kiyo has found a decent chassis for the TRF boys now (thanks goodness!!!, lol)

Can anyone have a good guess when the next TRF will come? Just after worlds? December (exactly 1 year after last trf)?

Does Tamiya make any open ended ball connectors or do you guys go with another brand?

Or are most just drilling a hole or shaving the top part with an X-acto?

also can use body reamer from top and bottom. mine came out pretty nice.

The reamer is a good idea. I usually cut the tops off, then finish it with a reamer for a neater looking hole and to remove any burrs.
