I use TQ as well. I like that my money is helping support a track. Even if they don't have what you want, they typically can get it in within a couple days if you ask them. They really go that extra mile for you. I've placed two orders in the same day and they have combined them and refunded shipping costs on one of the orders without me even asking. Great group of racers running that place.

Nice! I got my m05 kit, bearings and shocks from Liquidrc.com in NH because they were the cheapest stateside, close to me and offered free shipping. Ordered late Thurs night, FedEx truck arrived Saturday! Terrible site, but good Amazon store.

Thats funny you mention that! TQ is awesome they did the same exact thing for me and refunded my entire shipping cost. They are my new go-to online retailer.

TQ is awesome. I have to hand it to them.. They have come on strong and offer a greater variety than Amain even. Now that I live out of state.. Oh wait.. I take the 5th like Lois Lerner

Hi guys,

I typed out a long post a couple of days ago and it doesnt seem to have made it on here. Shame.

Anyhow, hello from UK M05 racer who started in October last year. Its pretty addictive and starting to get up to speed with the lead men at our club. Your tips and advice can be very interesting

That one worked straight away. Hmmm.

May as well do my war and piece again. Got into this in October indoors on polished floors with complete out of the box (yep those kit shocks incl). Me and my 11 yr old son enjoyed it and have been improving ever since.

We are now at the stage where we both made the A finals and i got a 3rd overall with fastest lap of the day and he came 7th with second fastest lap of the day. Well chuffed.

Cars are pretty sorted at the moment as i have been helped by a local who is recognised as one of the best at setting up the cars at the club. Running torque tunes motors our cars were clearly faster than everyone other than the 1st & 2nd who are both previous national champs.

Mine did suffer with one problem. It ran the first 2 heats amazingly fast. But from that point on it started dropping off the speed gradually. By the end i was on full throttle without needing to slow down for corners. By the next race i would get a few laps of fast then gradually dropping off again. It was enough to come 3rd but not get anywhere near the top 2 and it was purely the car not going fast enough, which it was in the first 2 heats.

I have taken it to a friend who is going to direct solder the motor to the esc and is going to check all the other solders for me. I have also bought a heatsink/motor mount to help with heat.

I am running the standard esc and the torque tuned motor.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like battery to me. I'm not sure if the stock ESC's have a low-voltage cutoff for lipos, if not you may have drained a battery too far. Have someone balance and cycle your battery to make sure its taking a full charge and all cells are evenly charging.

Yep sounds like you just ran out of gas
What type of battery are you using?
Do a total recharge on it and try that and let us know how you made out

Whilst waiting for the battery to be diagnosed, I would say check the motor too. If I understand correctly, that is a brushed motor?

I too would look at the motor. Sounds like it might be giving up on you. Check the Comm to make sure its not black and if you can see into the brushes make sure they are not worn really bad or have changed color from over heating. This can cause the motor to drop off bad during a run.

Deffo not the battery. The batteries are balance charged and i run 4 batteries which get cycled between me and my son. Either i would have to be very unlucky to get the same battery in the 5 races i had the problem out of 7 or my son would have to get very lucky to not have the problem. The batteries are recharged after every heat so they are absolutely nowhere near the lipo cut off which the esc does have. Batteries are always taking the full 8.4v and both cells are the same all the way through the charge

The motor is brushed.

Going to the track tonight. Going to swap my motor with my sons and then run them to see if my motor has a problem. Motor is about 2-3mths old

Doesn't matter how old it is. It can be a dud, or you might have verschnickered it. Which is what I think happened.

Check as advised the comm and brushes/springs, and take a skim if you have a lathe or find someone with one who can help you. If that does not rejuvenate its performance, you might have cooked the rotor.

Another possibility is that your motor is overheating in the race for some other reason (drag in the transmission, etc.).

Things i am checking are

1) A dodgy connection which is causing resistance
2) Dodgy motor which can easily be replaced
3) Dirty Motor. There was rubber grains all over so i dont know if enough of this could cause problems inside the motor
4) Heat build up - I am going to fit a metal motor mount and the heat sink.
