Parking lot Racing. I used to live in Alhambra. Smack dap in the middle of 3 permanent on-road tracks. Revelations, Sun Valley, Crystal park, and GLARCC. And before that Ranchpit in Pomona. All tracks been closed, Revelation went off-road 3 years ago. GLARCC run at the Rail Station parking lot you may like. 8 years ago moved to Vegas, Permanent Track of SilverBowl closed down. Silverbowl was used on Regional and National Racing under ROAR Region 12. Another track in Oxnard is good, cant remember the address, its been awhile.

Where in the Valley is your parking lot races held? They used to hold races at the Rose Bowl once a month, the time the Flee Market opens.

So I heard about past tracks. I started this hobby fairly recently and didn't get to enjoy the other tracks. GLARC is an awesome track and it's in Metrolink station. Well prepped and high traction.
Not sure about Rose bowl track. Might have heard that they are still operating but not sure. Ours is in Northridge. It is another Metrolink station. Traction is not high. On good days, maybe medium. Pretty smooth and big though. It's a well established track. Some of those guys at the track have been going there for many years. One good thing about this one, you can run most of popular classes there. They have F1, touring 17.5, 13.5, mod, Mini, nitro, VTA and GT.
The track in Oxnard you talked about is not in Oxnard but in Camarillo. They are next to each other anyway. It's asphalt and designated track. Small, but pretty good traction. There are some good drivers going there.

Went to school in CSN. Lived in LA accept the last 8 years. Camarillo My OL lives there, said Oxnard cuz everyone know Oxnard or Pt.Magoo. I go to Camarillo every other month. You run Serpents, Been a Serpent Guy since '85, that tells you how old I am.

Knowing carbs came easy for me. mid '70 I was a Porsche mechanic, worked a lot on the 911 carbs. knowing the science of carburetion made it easy for me. I may say something the RC Nitro folks may not understand, I describe things differently. GLARCC is a club that together and everyone help each other. Don't be shy just ask!!! So I haven't run my car since we exchanged idea. But it seems that the bogging might be from too small clutch gap at .5mm. I wish I could've tried last week. It's got to wait till nova challenge lol

Sorry I lost track of the thread. Been out of the country. Clutch gap @ .5 is ok. Centax clutch specs is 1mm. I even go lower to .02. Is adjustable It works by centrifugal force. Depending on Idle and the LSN. It bogs cuz the initial break of throttle there is a lean condition. Once you have the correct engine tuning, then adjust the clutch engagement.

That's fine. 0.5mm gap was not actually fine. I raised the gap to .8 mm and bogging has been gone. I find that .5mm is fine w 10th scale but not w 8th scale.

I'd say it's the other way around!! You can't tune an engine with a crappy clutch setup! 0.5mm is too tight. It should be 0.6mm with a new shoe resulting in 0.7mm once the shoe is broken in...

Dan is right, you have to have the clutch right first or you'll never get your engine tuned, best asking an experienced driver of your chassis for their clutch settings.

what do you think that the correct setting for a Shepherd v8 Clutch???? I have the same problem in my clutch. Thanks for the info.

2.7-3.1mm of preload on spring depending on track conditions and engines

Looking back when I posted this, everything was wrong LOL. I eventually destroyed the engine. Conrod broke and I should've checked it. Tuning issue was due to that. It just takes time to build up knowledge on clutch and engine it seems.
And the bogging I asked about to you guys seems to have been coming from both from engine and clutch shoe slightly touching the bell when it's not running. I didn't know it should not touch the bell at that time.
