CRC 1/10 Pan Car
#3691
Other than carpet, I have only run my WGT cars on smooth high traction asphalt tracks. So, I am a bit spoiled when it comes to asphalt racing. For the most part, I was never successful with any form of parking lot races due to the lack of grip.
However, I would suggest placing the rear side springs out above the side links and running whites (old) or .45-.50 mm side springs at the rear. It should allow your car to handle the
imperfections of a parking lot type surface better than a standard setup.
Modifying SG1's posted carpet setup from last year using the outboard rear side springs with the side tubes raised at the outside is definitely where I would start to try to develop a parking lot setup.
Are there other WGT cars racing at the same parking lots with you? If so, how are they doing?

Still Bill,
Thanks for the suggestions, I will try them. I run it in our 2 wheel modified class against a bunch of trucks, I thought it would be fun to try a Pan Car but it is the only one.

Hey Bill,
My poor car is in a pile of pieces going through a rebuild, so I can't get a pic But, here's what I just ran:
1/12 kingpins with .50 springs with min. droop (.01" gap between stearing block and lower pivot balls while sitting on the table)
0* castor blocks with high roll center graphite shims
All castor shims back
1.5* camber and slight toe out.
2.01" tires, to purple line sauced
4mm clearance
new green center shock spring with 35wt. oil
2mm droop
.55 side springs (just touching)
20K in tubes (i did raise them like the LE)
2.05" tires ,narrowed (3/16" on insides)
4mm clearance
sauced 3/4 center of tire

And are the .55 mm side springs still out over the side links like before?
Many thanks.

Running a 2s shorty is a great idea once I get the car dialed in a bit more. The track is an oval about 45x90 feet so it can handle a bit of speed on the straights.
I am trying to figure out what to order from CRC for parts and springs to to try setting the side tubes level and moving/replacing the side springs so they are over the side links. In your post you mention white (old) springs, not sure what that relates to on the CRC web site. I see a #1296 side spring white medium...is that the spring? Or is it the #1793 - Pro Tapered Spring (pr) .50mm? I think I found the standoffs used by SG1 but not sure...I did read a slew of posts about his setup but no specifics with part numbers. Is there a post that has part numbers for the setup that I have not uncovered yet?
I am a newbie to the CRC and really appreciate all the posts and help!
Thanks,
Bill

Odin,
Sounds like a good assessment. So far, I have never needed to add shims or washers there on a 1/10th kingpin; but, it could be useful for certain setups.
What is the distance from the bottom of the steering block to the bottom of the groove for the c-clip on the kingpin? Is it about 0.600"? Are both distances equal?

I was going to put the 1/12 kingpins on but I somehow managed to order 2 sets of .55 and no .50's. I also managed not to get any other 1/10 front springs because I saw nothing that indicated what was 1/12 and what was 1/10.
I've got to say, CRC has one of the worst websites for ordering from. Makes me reconsider having this car over an AE. And thats no joke.

With only 10 LIPO's:
To prevent: Limiting center shock or side? Another idea?
thanks and regards
