I recently bought a 1:1 scale 2014 Mazda 6. I've always wanted to race an RC car that looks like my 1:1 scale car. I need a body rules clarification. It is my understanding that the Protoform Mazda 6 GX would NOT be legal for USGT. Correct?

Protoform Mazda 6 would not be legal. If you want to run a Mazda, HPI makes an RX-7 an RX-8 which would fit into the USGT rules.

basically, if you see the body running in a touring car class (17.5/13.5/mod), then its not going to be legal in USGT - ie, any body that is on the ROAR legal body list, ain't legal here

plus the mazda6 that is made looks NOTHING like you buy for RC. its been streamlined and tuned for racing.

Yabutt, you can't melt the zinc down I don't think? Those would work well for chassis weights, but not sailboat keels.

Didn't you drive VW at one point?

Maybe this design is in your future soon???

Surely this body would be USGT legal

LOL! Yeah, I've have several VWs/Audis, but no Vanagons. I've had more Hondas than VWs, but no Odysseys.

I did have one air-cooled 911. And speaking of Porsches, that Camel 911 looks good!

Speaking of RX-7's, I airbrushed this one for my son over the weekend. It's a Tamiya body. I bought it from a guy at the track and he didn't have the right parts for the stock wing. So, I used one of the HPI aftermarket ones. Looks right and is hard plastic. It's on an Associated TC6.

Zincs fluid melt point is around 850 F I think, (it's been awhile since my zinc die casting days).

Air cooled Vw bugs with wail tails don't count as air cooled 911's RJ...
